Bubble-net feeding is a complicated, highly synchronized effort that shows high biological intelligence. One whale usually leads the endeavor, diving deep then rising up to the surface. From deep below, it'll begin to blow air to create bubbles. It confuses and traps the fish above. Then, the rest of the team follows, creating a cumulative fence around the prey, like a corral. The whales then gather inside the bubble-net and rise to the surface, mouths wide open.

Auch wir haben eine dieser Touren gebucht und hatten das Glück, gleich drei Buckelwale beobachten zu können. Ein tolles Erlebnis, diese großen Riesen fast hautnah beim Fressen zu erleben...

Couldn't resist trying out my new Nikon AF-P 70-300mm lens on some pelicans that flew by while out whale watching.

Somewhere between the Faroes and Shetland, we first saw a lot of large whales, likely minke, then smaller ones, probably pilot whales. We almost missed this weak Kelvin–Helmholtz instability in the clouds.

There was quite a lot of whale activity in the fjord in august which was distracting at work and I had to keep running to the door with my camera.

Had an amazing experience encountering a superpod of thousands of Northern Right Whale Dolphins and Pacific White-Sided Dolphins grouped together in Monterey Bay, CA.
