The steam fleet in Indonesia in the 1970s was like a living museum. D1502 at Tegal on the island of Java was a prime example of how weird and wonderful the loco roster was.
In fact D1502 at just 47 years old was a relative newcomer having been built by Hanomag in 1931, although the design was very similar to the D10 class that dated back to around 1910.
Both classes featured the Klein-Lindner axle system to assist with flexibility on tight curves. All of these 0-8-0Ts eventually had the rear coupling rod removed and were operating as 0-6-2Ts.
On 21 August 1978 all three of the 'serviceable' D15s at Tegal were out of action, but staff kindly arranged for 1502 to be dragged out of the shed for a roster shot.
We checked out the infamous "Weird Vending Machine Corner" (or "Vending Machine House of Horror") near Akihabara.
The Background is a little bit unsharp, because it is a handheld shot. i wanted to have the motion blur of the biker. Thats why i chose 1/10 exposure.

This is one of two, new to me, species I met when diving in the Red Sea a few weeks ago.
This weird looking fish is a Sea moth called a "Little dragonfish".
According to the Collins "Coral Reef Guide - Red Sea" its body is encased in bony plates, its snout is proboscis-like, found on sand/mud/gravel/rubble and is territorial and the male protects his female. Apparently it is rarely seen but may be more common than thought.
I would not have seen it if my buddy hadn't pointed it out to me.

I followed and passed this guy several times east on Interstate 90 from Missoula, Montana on 09-11-2020 looking for a rest stop where I could pull of and snap this moving creation. The Furdurpurdur Bus was only traveling at 40 mph, so I pulled off at the rest stop at Nimrod, MT parked and waited. As always happens on most Interstates invariably a tractor-trailer rig will ruin your once in a blue moon shot! As weird as this is, it turned out to be in the top five prime photos from that trip!

Föhn, a warm wind from south here in the northern alps causes this weird light combinations. This dry warm wind makes some acceptable weather usually but once it collapses, it rains immediately.
This is the view from Gehrenfalben to south, in the middle the well known Three Towers.
Explore #101 on 3rd of January. After a very long time again entered Explore, nice :-)
Bamboo is a beautiful plant, but roots of it appear to be totally alien.

Usually when I find something unfamiliar on our travels, I come home and Google my way to an identification. But I can't figure out these weird weeds. I'm not sure if it's a wildflower or a grass, or if those are flowers or seed heads. Either way a whole sandy hilltop full of them waving in the breeze was quite ethereal and lovely to behold.
