The keep Austin weird festival had a 5K run with it, and this is a pic of some of the people getting lined up for the run. The festival wasn't that great, as festivals go. I don't know what I was expecting, maybe people swinging from vines or something..:) It was a pretty sober group, as you might expect and everyone seemed to be having fun, which is what it's all about. The group running the festival were fun to work with so I'll probably volunteer again next year.

The most peculiar pine cones.

This is Deadvlei in The Namib desert. The trees are petrified on the salt pans in the middle of the desert. It is an amazing sight. The people give it scale but I would love to have been alone there too.

Floaty birds, what will they think of next?

. . . It was a long shot looking for Northern Lights this far down in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan! But it was good to get out for the first time since my new knee surgery in August!

I ambled through the Himalayan Glen and High Walk, through China and past a temple and watchtower and suddenly was in a darker place....way weird....magic land....imagining orcs and goblins in the shadows....it was spooky even in the afternoon where the sides of the path reached in to trap you between spikey, pointed walls made out of tree stumps heaped on top of each other. Yes, this is the Stumpery in Biddulph Grange Gardens, one of the few bits I found genuinely interesting. I should have been interested in the vast variety of plants and trees, and might have learnt to identify and name more than the handful I do, but my mind was elsewhere. I should have been in North Wales, not just five minutes down the road.

It always felt as a strange relationship, one with clear boundaries, one which is not to be forgotten.

The bench is empty but in the reflection two people sit in it, a weird alignment no alter to photo.

Weird titel on a weird shot in a weird time. Played a little with a reversed front lens! ;-))) Helios-44 58/2

This is Trout Creek and it is frozen on top. If you look closely you will see flow lines in the ice that look exactly like a long exposure of flowing water. But it's ice! I don't know how they got there but I have a guess.I think it is due to the perpetual slide upstream from here that is constantly depositing silt into the creek. The silt shows up in the ice causing these lines but why in lines and not just dirty ice like it is when it's water. Something to think about. If you've seen this before or know why it occurred, please let me know.
