We sit in a church for the Weight Watchers meeting, and there's always some great light coming through the windows. So I took this picture, and the woman three seats away said, "Overexposed." And I sort of sneered at her. And then she said, "Whenever I have shots like that, I always overexpose and then under process." I told her all my settings were manual and that my camera was a digital and that I did pretty well.
During the meeting she offered some advice to another WW member, and I recognized that voice. I got up and sat next to her and looked her in the eye. She said, "I know you!" and then we hugged. Turns out she was a friend of a friend, and we once spent a week in Martha's Vineyard together many years ago. She took a photograph of me on the beach there, reading a book, with cows marching by. She always took her cows and photographed them.
It's one of my favorite pictures. I loved seeing her again.

Production was moved from the traditional Jefferson Avenue Assembly plant in Detroit to an exclusive facility on Warren Avenue in Dearborn. Other than a toothy new grill and revisions to side trim little changed in terms of exterior styling for the 1959 model year. A new option was the "Silvercrest" roof which featured a stainless steel front with a rear canopy that could be ordered either in any of the basic car colors or in the "Landau" version which had a black canopy with the appearance of leather. Another new option was swivel out front seats that were part of the six way electric front bench seat. Manually activated by a handle for this introductory year, for 1960 and 1961 the seats would automatically swivel when the front door was opened activated by a cable. The Hemihead engine was replaced with the less expensive 413 cu in (6.8 L) Wedgehead engine that nevertheless had more horsepower and weighed 101 lbs less, improving the power-to-weight ratio. For the model year 17,710 Imperials were produced, ahead of Lincoln, as the Packard luxury brand withdrew from the marketplace.

"Gold" kitchen weights. I used a cross-processed layer to enhance the background colour, & added a vignette.

Lovely old set of standard weights, given to me by a colleague who's retiring - found lurking in his desk.

Here's week 1 of my weight loss tracker graph. Just got to keep that black line below the grey line!
I promised Robert La Gesse of Triagility I would post this note when I found a suitable illustration (thanks for the photo, Mia!). The object above is a letter scale from my grandparents’ and now my aunt’s house in Winchester, England. Note that it doesn't need to show the letter's precise weight, but rather just which weight category (i.e. price bracket) it fits in.
Says Robert: "…you loved the color coding of [some type of data] in some application you used. Color coding is just one method to display how much “weight” a user gives to an item. But the colors are just the display mechanism. The mechanism could just as easily be a set of numbers, or pictures.
The thought I had today was that “Weight 2.0” might be a very good seminar: How do we determine/allow/aggregate/balance how important any given item - be it a meeting request or a photograph - is to not just me and the author, but to my immediate community, and potentially the global community?"
Esthr adds: I'm not sure the idea conld sustain an entire day's workshop, but it's an important concept. Already, you can allow the users to adjust the weights of various criteria, but not the [experts' assessments or user votes for] absolute ratings they adjust, so that users can give more or less weight to certain attributes – a feature that already exists in many ranking applications, such as picking houses, investment portfolios, consumer electronics and the like.
I can also imagine using a variety of factors to weight the importance of mail in my inbox: recency, sender, topic. I wouldn’t necessarily want the most important stuff at the top, but I might like old mails to fade, important ones to show as pink…. And as a special bonus, I’d like them to be sorted not by date of receipt, but by date of action-required.

As I have nearly finished decorating my lounge, I'm starting to round up things from around the house, that will be going in the room.
We have 2 old sets of bank weighing scales, both collecting dust and in need of cleaning. I gave the larger set to the OH to polish, whilst I set about sorting out the smaller set and all the weights. My small set will be going the lounge and the larger set in the dining room.

I prefer swimming, but that doesn't increase muscle as much as weights.
