I'm really pleased I was there for this set of photos and make no apology for the numbers I took.
I believe the gentleman is called Bernard Morgan, a veteran of World War II and in particular, the landings on D Day on Gold Beach 6th June 1944. Bernard was only 20 years old at the time. Bernard came into the marquee during a set by The Ronnie Singers and was introduced by the master of ceremonies (MC). He was then accompanied by 'Monty', a re-enactor playing Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery.
From what I can remember of the MC's introduction and from information gleaned on the internet, Bernard served in the RAF in No. 4 Beach Squadron. Their task on D Day was to be amongst the first servicemen to land and to erect radio masts in order to decipher orders.

I also found an account from a relative of one of Bernard's comrades, which includes a week's diary of events from 8th June. Please see....
