Sindy: -What do you mean I can't open it?
Me: CooperSky said it is a WHTF item.
Sindy: I don't know what that means.
Me: -Neither do I.
Sindy: So, let's open it then. I'm Sindy, I should have the last word.
Me (hesitating): Let's wait to hear what CooperSky says...Besides it's called Weekender and we are just Monday...
Sindy: -ugh.

Sindy is wearing "Shortie Nightie" from 1976 there is matching pantie made of the same fabric with a cute little bow but she absolutely refused to show her pantie to the world. "I'm a lady of dignity" she said.
She would love to wear this NRFC Weenkender 44153 from 1976
I'm not an NRFB collector but I always get that guilty feeling deboxing old fashions or dolls... The plastic cover teared itself open, so I guess its willing to be opened... What do you say Mrs Cooper?

I've had the patttern for ages, but it was Elizabeth Hartman's patchwork version that made me want to try it out.
Made with Amy Butler Lark fabrics. Like a lot of other people who have made this bag, I considered it a labor of love. LOVE the end result, the labor was not always fun :) I absolutely adore everything Amy Butler creates, and this pattern and fabric top my list of favs right now.
Really though, the bag was not too bad, it was the lining that was a real bugger.
I made a couple of pattern changes. I lengthened the straps so they would fit over my shoulder. And I added pockets on the interior.
Miss Dawn's wedding present. Lots of work - she's totally worth it!

My second weekender. I just love the Elizabeth Hartman inspired version. I even cut into my Mendocino (thank you Mel!!).

Sewed by my mom from the Tulip print in my Outside Oslo fabric line using Amy Butler's Weekender Bag pattern. I'm in love with it! More pix here on my blog.
Amy Butler weekender bag using Art Gallery's bee print (love it), as well as some tweed suiting, yellow twill and grey cottons. Large bee is done by freehanding a bee and some hexies and then raw edge applique as well as turned edge applique techniques.
My inspiration (obviously) was the fabulous Weekender bag using Amy Butler's olive lacework fabric. Basically I wanted to create a fun yet functional (and durable) overnight bag.
It's incredibly huge! I haven't checked the actual dimensions of the original version, but I think this one is bigger :)
Project notes: The orientation is more horizontal, rather than vertical for more accessibility. Also the shoulder straps were extended to the bottom, dividing the front pocket into three parts.
Other modifications included extra zippers around the perimeter, interior pockets, laptop holder/divider, D-rings, and an elastic side pocket.
There are photo notes as well!
