My first 'kit' camera, the Recesky arrived from the Far East in a slim box. Instructions were pretty clear and all parts were present.
In fact, the hardest part was photographing the construction so I could make an animation of it (I can't embed the video so it follows..)
32/52 Motion Bkur - over halfway through my self-set challenge and off to meet up with my accomplice, Sue (a.k.a. www.flickr.com/photos/46534600@N06/ ) for lunch today. I'm wondering if I should consider a 365 project next year, but the practicalities of juggling real life and keeping up with a 365 seem a bit daunting.
This is inspired by the vibrant, fun motion blur/panning shots, taken in supermarkets, of my brilliant contact Kevin, a.k.a. the Disgruntled Baker www.flickr.com/photos/disgruntledbaker/ . Not quite as I'd intended, nor as good as his, but not disappointed with it either as I was using my iPhone (I've found I have much more control over the background when you shoot motion blur with a DSLR or P&S, but doing that in your average English supermarket is pretty much a non-starter).
Thank you for any comments and/or favourites - I always appreciate them. Apologies for not being able to reciprocate at the moment. You can also visit me at www.facebook.com/LyndaHPhotography where I'll be posting images of our time in Italy and England.

Visited the Tower of London yesterday and this on one one of the signs guiding tourists to various points of interest. Someone at the Tower has a sense of humor.

I wanted to show the energy of the games but also the logos and a bit of patriotism with the flag.

Title: Across the Delaware
Notes: I really didn’t know what my final subject for this week’s theme would be, but the Delaware River kept calling to me so we ended up going for a wonderful bike ride along the Delaware River and Canal. We started a couple miles south of Lambertville in NJ and followed the tow path north to Stockton and then across the river and back down to New Hope on the PA side, and then back across the river again to our start. Just over ten miles so it was an easy ride. The shot/s above was taken on the bridge between New Hope, PA (on right) and Lambertville, NJ (on left), with the beautiful Delaware River in between. And of course that is Peter there on the right gazing out over the water :-).
Because it is a pano there is a lot of detail in the original size which is pretty cool.

What a great theme this week. I attempted to photograph the Perseid meteor shower. However, while I was waiting for the meteors to be more frequent, I started a star trails shot. This is a stacked photo of about 200 30-second photos to make one 100minute long photo of the star trails in Brazos Bend State Park.
Skeleton Triathlon: archery, fencing, and javelin throw. The thugs with maces and hatchets, ready to dispute the findings of the judges (who they feel are favoring the pirates) are off camera because they ruined the composition :p

The idea behind this evening's visit to the wonderful Botany Bay was to try and catch the moon rising over the cliffs. Difficulties encountered involved the moon being a bit further along the cliff top than I'd calculated (difficult working out the elevation of the cliffs), a rapidly rising tide (I got wet) and trying to keep my shadow out of the shot because the sun was setting behind me. Er... the sun was setting behind me - turn round...
Turner was right about Margate sunsets.
A silhouette is the image of a person, animal, object or scene represented as a solid shape of a single colour, usually black, its edges matching the outline of the subject. The interior of a silhouette is featureless, and the whole is typically presented on a light background, usually white, or none at all...
The word "silhouette" derives from the name of Étienne de Silhouette, a French finance minister who, in 1759, was forced by France's credit crisis during the Seven Years' War to impose severe economic demands upon the French people, particularly the wealthy. Because of de Silhouette's austere economies, his name became synonymous with anything done or made cheaply and so with these outline portraits. Prior to the advent of photography, silhouette profiles cut from black card were the cheapest way of recording a person's appearance.

This little cat is actually for a hanging basket - as minimal as I could get outside, for today! Hope those clouds don't make it not minimal....

Does part of you want to say there's a part of me over you?
No matter how long you take, no more leaving without you.
So say what you want to say, but there's nowhere to run to.
And part of me wants to say there's a part of me over you.
for 7DoS: I used to love winter, in the days when winter meant cold, crisp days with sunshine and blue skies. Climate change has meant that winters here, are now generally milder. Which, sadly, also seems to mean more grey skies ... so when the crocuses start to poke their heads out in the park, they are a most welcome splash of colour. We may still have too many grey skies, but at least we get to look forward to more daylight hours!

I'm running out of flies so this one is not the best I have produced but I liked the fly. It's a robberfly, one of which I had not seen until I shot this guy. This will most likely be my last post until the 19th or 20th. little m :) has told me she will post a fly shot (or something "fly") next Friday in honor of Fly Day while I am away. I'm leaving tomorrow for a wildlife safari in Kenya. Take care all!!!

I had an hour free today when my boy was doing his 'learning' at Explore Learning so took a quick trip to this church in Winterbourne.
Just imagine my surprise when I processed this shot to find two ghostly men walking among the gravestones.
An even bigger shock was that they both look like me!
Spooky!
