my favourite things

I passed by Emeryville Bay after I got out from work to catch the Blue Angels fly over San Francisco Bay but this was what was left of it after the airshow. DSC_0425

We had our first snow today. Usually I would hide inside and prepare myself to hibernate but I have to admit that it looks pretty magical sometimes. I love this place so I decided to use it for this week with a little help of Photoshop.

artic blast coming in this week

Was given this as a gift and thought it might prove useful for this weeks theme, as well as looking pretty! Hopefully you know what it is.

Week 6 is Alley and there aren't many proper alleys here in Bedford I have to admit. However, I remembered there's one or two near Castle Road and found this.

It's a bit of a snap to be honest, or at least I feel it is, I've deliberately tried to accentuate the walls narrowing toward the lamp post and beyond and the fact it's a wet day adds some atmosphere with wet surfaces, reflections and threatening cloud from above. Perfect for some monochrome shooting!

yep, another miserable windy, rainy week but everyone should know by now i love a good windy hair pic :)

Theme of The Week - Dragan effect

Welcome to Day 6 of Technique Week! Yes, I am aware that I am posting this on day 8, but hey, better late than never.

Today's technique is a circle! :D Specifically one using curved 4x4x2 quarter round fences. First, stack a 1x2 plate on top of a 1x2 plate with 2 vertical clips, then a 1x2 cheese slope on top of that. Do that 20 times and attach all of those to the bars of the curved fence pieces to form a 20-sided shape, which is pretty much a circle. To make the circle taller, you don't need more fence pieces; you just need to replace the 1x2 plates with longer plates. You will need more cheese slopes though.

I think this may have applications for sci-fi, especially large sci-fi, and seeing as SHIPtember isn't too far off, this may prove useful soon...

If you're interested in similar techniques, check out Halhi's well technique, which works by using a minifigure life saver and 1x1 plates with horizontal clips. You can also adapt that technique to get a slightly larger circle using technic steering wheels.

Day 7 is coming soon!

Theme of The Week - Autobiography in 4 Parts, Ch 4

We grow up, we move away, we come back.

We lie, we get lied to, we lie to ourselves.

We're happy, we're sad.

We go on adventures, we stay on the couch.

we fail, we succeed

I was running out of ideas for this week, as apart from a couple of spiders, there were no other crawlies around.

I saw this flock of crows settle on a half dead tree, whilst driving through Woburn deer park. With a little addition of a full moon, courtesy of PicMonkey, I have a creepy picture at least!

I'm in Romania right now and this is my cousin!

My Photostream reached over 5.000 views, not much for you, but very much for me! Thank you all! :)

Collar popped, in my basement, with light shining through the crack in a pizza box

ive decided to start a 52 weeks project. i just dont have the time or effort to do a full 365, but i like the idea, and the 100 days of summer as well.

i didnt learn much from my 365 a few years ago, i just took any picture and decided to put it up on my myspace. im hoping i can learn something from this, whether it be about myself, my photography, my skills, anything. im hoping to use this as a tool to open myself to the people around me and the people i hope to inspire.

enjoy.
