Dozens of protesters lined the edge of Route 114 bordering the Tesla dealership in Peabody, Massachusetts to protest the role of Elon Musk in implementing the policies of President Donald Trump. Musk, who Trump appointed leader of the Department of Government Efficiency, owns the Tesla electric vehicle company. The protesters at the Tesla dealership object both to the policies of Trump and Musk and the power given to Musk as an unelected figure. Musk has sought to cut payrolls and eliminate division of federal government through what’s come to be called DOGE, the acronym for the cost-cutting campaign. The protest in Peabody takes place against the backdrop of recent demonstrations across the country that started last week to coincide with the congressional recess.

Not when there’s so much real hardship in America.” Indeed, last week the Census Bureau reported that about half of Americans are either living in poverty or qualify as low-income."
