Over 450 people gathered outside the Tesla showroom on Boylston Street to protest the automaker’s billionaire CEO Elon Musk’s role in slashing government spending and overseeing massive cuts to the federal workforce. Musk, who Trump appointed leader of the Department of Government Efficiency, owns the Tesla electric vehicle company. The protesters at the Tesla dealership object both to the policies of Trump and Musk and the power given to Musk as an unelected figure. Musk has sought to cut payrolls and eliminate division of federal government through what’s come to be called DOGE, the acronym for the cost-cutting campaign.
