It can be surprisingly green up here in early December

Weak sauce winter, so far. We’re up to 265 consecutive days with no measurable snow in Salt Lake City. There’s a little up in the mountains, but not enough.

A series of images from a walk up to Angle Tarn in the English Lake District National Park on a late winter’s day in 2023 after a surprise, late snowfall.

Not that he'll do any damage - except perhaps to any pedestrians where there is no footpath!

Stanage Edge as autumn starts to make way for winter

CMQ's Job 2 hits a ray of weak sunlight as they roll past Parlin Stream behind a pair of SD40-2Fs. While the snow squalls from earlier in the day had died down, the temperature has also plunged, especially with the sun quickly setting, and to make matters worse, I had fallen through the ice into the stream earlier in the day, and my pants and feet had gotten soaked. As I recall, I was standing in the back of my friend Don Marson's truck in my wet socks because I couldn't get my waterlogged boots back on in time, and my pants were frozen solid, with frost starting to form on the legs by the time the train got here. But, in the end, we got the shot, I didn't get frostbite, and all in all we had a pretty decent day up on the Moosehead Sub.

WEAK, slender blades of tender green,

With little fragrance, little sheen,

What maketh ye so dear to all?

Nor bud, nor flower, nor fruit have ye,

So tiny, it can only be

'Mongst fairies ye are counted tall.

No beauty is in this,— ah, yea,

E'en as I gaze on you to-day,

Your hue and fragrance bear me back

Into the green, wide fields of old,

With clear, blue air, and manifold

Bright buds and flowers in blossoming track.

All bent one way like flickering flame,

Each blade caught sunlight as it came,

Then rising, saddened into shade;

A changeful, wavy, harmless sea,

Whose billows none could bitterly

Reproach with wrecks that they had made.

No gold ever was buried there

More rich, more precious, or more fair

Than buttercups with yellow gloss.

No ships of mighty forest trees

E'er foundered in these guiltless seas

Of grassy waves and tender moss.

Ah, no! ah, no! not guiltless still,

Green waves on meadow and on hill,

Not wholly innocent are ye;

For what dead hopes and loves, what graves,

Lie underneath your placid waves,

While breezes kiss them lovingly!

The New 52 had it's weak points, but boy was this just a weird story from start to finish!

Now Danny Miki (the inker for a majority of the series) had some really good... and some really not so good artwork throughout this run. One of the most notable in my mind is his Zero Year apocalyptic, Frank Castle-y, “Last Of Us”-ish Batman with a dirt bike and a crossbow. To accompany all that, Scott Snyder's got the Batman out there fightin' lions and stuff, bein' an edgy son of a gun, with a weird crew cut and little purple gloves! ...uh what? ...what the heck?!

Plus I'm really not going to get into plot holes or nit pick it as much as I'd like, but I can tell you it's a pretty weird story (not in the good way) but the art (in general) is pretty cool I guess...(?)

Now I hadn't really planned on shooting anything Scott Snyder related, mostly because I've never really been blown away by his material. But when I (finally) got a hold of some new s16 CMF parts, everything just kind of came together naturally :)

I think this will be the only one I'll post here, but there are a few other images on Patreon with Mr Batman on the bike, and some shots of the build in the foreground as well :)

Sorgente luminosa nel buio totale ... una speranza.

there are times

when even

the strongest

person

is weak

people can

view them as

those who must

"have it all together"

but can be broken

and full of fear

it is not easy

to be the one

who is defective

it can be just

as hard for the

ones around

not knowing

why

how

or what to do

sometimes

it takes one

to know one

or if you are

lucky enough

you may find

a special heart

that despite

the mess

sees the pure

delicate beauty

amidst the

ruins

and takes

that fear

away

"I get so weak in the knees

I can hardly speak

I lose all control

And something takes over me

In a daze, and it's so amazing

It's not a phase I want you to stay with me

By my side, I swallow my pride

Your love is so sweet

It knocks me right off of my feet... Can't explain why your love, it makes me weak."

When everything else fails with me you go straight to Italy ... that’s my weak spot. I forget what made me upset, I lose my concentration, my eyes get watery & I’m done. ♥️ Can’t live without Italy, miss it always; food, language, nature, weather, people. I love Italians ability to be themselves, unpretentious, hyper, emotional.

Hammersmith Bridge is a crossing of the River Thames in west London, just south of the Hammersmith town centre area of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham on the north side of the river. It allows road traffic and pedestrians to cross to Barnes (in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames) on the south side of the river. The current bridge is the second permanent bridge on the site.

The construction of a bridge was first sanctioned by an Act of Parliament in 1824 and work on site began the following year. It was the Thames’ first suspension bridge and was designed by William Tierney Clark.

[...]

Plans for its replacement began to be made during the 1870s, during which time a temporary bridge allowed a more limited cross-river traffic.

The current suspension bridge was designed by noted civil engineer Sir Joseph Bazalgette and rests on the same pier foundations constructed for Tierney Clark’s structure. It was opened by the Prince of Wales on 11 June 1887. With much of the supporting structure built of wrought iron, it is 700ft long and 43ft wide and cost £82,117 to build.

In June 2000, the bridge was damaged by a terrorist bomb, on the 40th anniversary of a previous bombing by the IRA, but after closure for repairs was reopened with weight restrictions in place

At a distance you're strong. Until the wind comes, then you crumble and blow away.

Still feeling weak after eating something I shouldn't have two days ago. But I did manage to go out for a short walk just as the sun was setting a few minutes ago, and managed to photograph this "Solpelare".

This fine pile shown in weak winter light was built in the nineteenth century for Sir Walter Scott. It is a mixture of styles and is now open as a museum displaying artefacts from Scott's collection. They are varied, from Roman statues to mediaeval artefacts including armaments to Scottish curiosities and painting. To be honest, I found it excessive. By the time he built it, he was very wealthy on account of the success of the many books he wrote. He is regarded as the father of historical novels and became famous all over the world. I attach a link to a shot of his library in the house, a shot which shows something of the opulence of the interior. www.flickr.com/photos/alan_glasgow/9222821579/in/datetaken/

Wow! I'm surprised how much time has gone by since my last upload. I'm still taking at least one a day, though it's another weak set. Also I'm truly sorry to my kind and loyal contacts - I'm embarassed how far behind I am on looking at everyone's streams. But enough appologetic whining, here's some pictures from this week...

For those of you who have seen the series "Keeping Up Appearances" you'll certainly understand the title. For those who have not see this series....

Hyacinth Bucket "It's pronounced Bouquet" was fond of saying weak as water when someone was acting in a weak or indifferent way.

10:30 last nigh (2330) a thunderclap broke loose, enough to shake the windows in the house. All right, I thought, the storms have arrived and I'm going to catch them. I headed out to my local spot and set up, anticipating the great show that was coming up.

Unfortunately the great storm turned out to be "weak as water" and this is the best of what I got. I called the pursuit at 11:30 (2330) and headed back home, once again disappointed in the show that Mother Nature had decided to put on. Hopefully she'll get her act together and give the viewing audience the show they deserve.

The weather guesser is calling for storms today so with any luck I'll have something better to present tomorrow!

I belong to a group that has weekly prompts and I've missed so many that I'm determined to post something this week.

So, here's Watching. I know. Just another cat with pretty eyes but that's all I have. I take so many pictures of cats at work that by the time I get home, edit them and email them to their owners, I've pretty much reached my photography limit for the day. Maybe now that we have more daylight hours I'll get out more.

BTW, this cat's name is Kitty and she's just boarding with us. She already has a great home.
