Locally, Telus is one of the largest telephone/communications companies. Their new building is the Telus Sky Tower and just opened for business. Their advertising stresses how unique they are and how very different each and every customer is treated. Somehow the side of their new building reflects a somewhat different perspective.

We did a longish coastwalk from Newton Ferrers to Mothecombe at the weekend. It looked like it was going to rain when we arrived at Newton Ferrers but the sky cleared to give a warmish winters day with some great views.

Australasian Grebe (Tachybaptus novaehollandiae)
I popped down to the Vic Uni Pond today to see what the Grebes were doing. When I arrived this one, possibly female (they both incubate the eggs) was rearranging the nest - covering the eggs while it went for a swim and had something to eat. It then returned and uncovered the eggs and settled down. We know they mated last Thursday - David www.flickr.com/photos/birdsaspoetry/ got a photo.
With an incubation period of 21-23 days we should see some chicks in two - three weeks.
The beautiful leaves will come again, even though the wind and the rain have blown them nearly all away. A Virginia Creeper has covered our lower shed for years and provides beauty in the spring and summer, a lot of work to keep it in check just to find the shed door ! Then the autumn comes and that's when these brilliant colours appear.
Now, the wind and the rain have blown all the beautiful leaves away. But they'll come again in the Spring and I can't wait !

We stopped to watch these cows while leaving the Wave area, and this huge storm came sweeping through, and gave us a little mini rainbow.
