These ex-Soo Line boxcars have made their way to Mellen, WI reportedly for scrapping. They had been in captive service on the White Pine Sub for additional braking on the grade between Bergland and White Pine as needed.

very nice place too have an urgent stop and go

While checking out the north end of Joliet yard, I crossed Woodruff Road, and while looking left down the tracks this was stopped at CP Ruff! Not even a minute later it departed for the Phoenix branch. Needless to say I'll take it!

WC SD40-2 #6006 still looks pretty nice, more than 5 years since the CN took over this regional. The engine was leading a southbound train out of Markham Yard at Homewood, IL on Sunday morning, May 20, 2007.

Reproduced 35mm Slide

Photo shot by my Dad, Jay Thomson, 11 November 1997 in Etowah, TN.

In the late 1990s a whole lot of foreign power was running on CSX routes - UP, WC and more. In November 1997 Dad caught WC SD45 6527 (ex-WC 6543, nee-BN 6543, to WC 7527) on the point of a northbound CSX train at Etowah, TN.

Shot on a Lomo LC-Wide and Kodak Elite Chrome 100 cross-processed.
