Brig. Gen. Wayne A. Wright, the Deputy Adjutant General of Virginia, presents the Virginia Military Funeral Honors Ribbon June 5 in Petersburg to Soldiers who have successfully performed more than 50 funerals as part of the Virginia Funeral Honors Team. A total of 24 Soldiers received the award at Sunday's ceremony from the approximately 70 Soldiers who have met the standards, and it was the first time the award has been presented. The award was designed by members of the Funeral Honors Team and was recently approved after more than two years of working through the design and approval process. The Virginia Funeral Honors Team on average provides funeral honors to more than 200 funerals each month, and more than 8,000 people attended funerals in the month of May 2011 where Virginia Soldiers provided honors. The first day of spring, and brilliant weather for this month’s Canterbury Classic trial at Riverside Road in Okuku.
Thanks to Bryce and family for hosting us, and Bryce, Trevor, Brent and Shirley for putting in the sections.
35 Riders took part on the following bikes: 3 Pre-65, 16 Twin Shock, 8 Air Cooled Mono, and 8 Modern.
A few had an unintentional swim but, while I stayed dry, Stu had to lift the bike off me for the second trial in a row!
A summary of the closest scores saw Brent and Simon tied with 3 points each in Mono A, with Brent being the winner with one more clean. Brent managed the event best of 30 cleans, only scoring points on two sections.
Kendall won Twin Shock A+ with Kahu only one point behind.
Twin Shock A was won by Dave Mardon with Wayne only one point behind, and Kelvin another two points back.
Twin Shock B was also close with Dick taking the win, Stu was two points behind and Peter Dunn another two.
Thanks also to Peter McDonald for the BBQ and Lynette for taking the photos.
