The hamlet of Lake Louise, located just minutes from the lake itself, has been developed over the last century to serve the needs of people visiting this astonishingly accessible and picturesque area of Banff National Park. Located nearby, Moraine Lake, with its indigo blue waters surrounded by the Valley of the Ten Peaks, is another one of Canada’s most iconic lakes.
A historically ship sails through stormy waters, surrounded by dramatic weather. The dark atmosphere is intensified by stormy clouds and water, illuminated by dramatic light, creating a captivating and evocative scene.

️ Ba Bể: Ancient Waters & Colonial Tunnels 🇻🇳
Just finished an epic ride through Ba Bể National Park! The journey was a perfect mix of natural wonder and historical intrigue.
🌊 The Lake: Ba Bể is a 200-million-year-old freshwater lake, a true geological masterpiece. It’s so significant it’s a Ramsar Wetland and an ASEAN Natural Heritage Site. The scenery here is breathtaking, misty mountains reflecting in calm waters, surrounded by Tay, Dao, and Nung villages.
️ The Ride: But the highlight? Cruising my motorcycle right through the French Tunnel (Đường hầm Pháp)! ️ Built by the French colonial administration, this historic passage is still part of the modern road. There’s nothing quite like riding through a century-old tunnel while the wind howls outside.
️ The Journey: The road leading here is long, steep, and winding, feeling more like the Italian Alps than Vietnam! The weather was perfect: dry, crisp, and cool. We stopped at a lovely homestay and connected with two other travelers who had a local guide.
📍 Perfect Stop: Located near Cao Bằng and Hà Giang, Ba Bể is the ideal connection point for any Northern Vietnam adventure.
Whether you’re here for the 200-million-year-old lake or the thrill of riding through history, this place delivers. Highly recommended! 💎
