When you think of idyllic spots in Acadia, Jordan Pond probably comes to mind with its pristine calm waters surrounded by lush, majestic mountains in all directions. The Jordan Pond House (rated one of the best restaurants in any national park) is conveniently located on the south side of the pond and offers up wondrous views of the Bubbles (South Bubble Mountain and North Bubble Mountain) across the water. Before or after having afternoon tea and popovers, a walk around the Jordan Pond Trail is a wonderful leisurely activity while offering up great scenery.

A beautifully shaped iceberg floats in front of a distant mountain range illuminated by warm morning light in Greenland's incredible Scoresby Sund fjord system. This was one of the most memorable moments during our sailing expedition of this amazing fjord, as we were floating in perfectly calm waters, surrounded by a sea of icebergs and distant mountain ranges!
A lovely family of six Australasian Grebes was happily floating on quiet waters surrounded by trees.

The Seton Lake Lookout is a spectacular viewpoint located along the Duffy Lake Road (Hwy 99), just a few minutes outside the town of Lillooet.
The Iconic View: It is world-famous for providing a panoramic view of a perfect 180-degree "Hairpin Turn" in the highway. The combination of the U-shaped road with the deep blue lake in the background is one of the most photographed spots in British Columbia.
The Lake: Seton Lake is a stunning glacial lake with turquoise or deep blue waters, surrounded by rugged, arid mountains that give it the appearance of an inland fjord.
Access: The lookout is not officially marked with large signs. Visitors must park in a small pullout on the side of the highway and hike for about 5-10 minutes up a steep, short trail to reach the rocky outcrop where the best photos are taken.
Unique Feature: The contrast between the cold glacial water and the desert-like landscape of the Lillooet area makes this a visually striking and unique location in the region.
Lake Moraine, located in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, is a stunning glacially-fed lake known for its vivid turquoise waters. Surrounded by the towering peaks of the Valley of the Ten Peaks, the lake sits at an elevation of 1,885 meters (6,183 feet) and is often regarded as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. The lake’s striking color is due to light refracting off rock flour deposited in the water from glaciers.
It seems the only thing for certain lately is a thick, dull-grey eastern sky every morning. Looking back to memories of a very pretty previous winter in a favorite place of ours. We're taking a short mental trip for a few minutes to a most beautiful place with still, icy, rose-colored waters surrounded by crusty, wave-splashed snow.
Thanks for stopping.
April signals the wetlands to come back to life. Spikes of green grass jut from the waters, surrounded by catty nine tails, golden fields and the calls of red winged blackbirds.
Lush vegetation and crystal clear waters surround a lone house on Korčula's north coast east of Prigradica. My kind of place...
Thanks for your visit.
Beautiful sight of the Blue Lagoon, a shallow saltwater lagoon with crystal-clear blue waters, surrounded by sandy beaches and mountains. Perfect for swimming, wind surfing and paddling rimmed on the outside with reef and surrounded on the land side with the granite mountains.
Located in the Ras Abu Galum Reserve, this breathtaking site is a large sheltered natural pond of calm, crystal-clear turquoise blue water. Sheltered by a low, arching stretch of sand and rock, protecting it from the wild sea of the Gulf of Aqaba.

Maligne Lake is the longest and deepest natural lake in Jasper National Park (Alberta, Canada), renowned worldwide for its glacier-fed blue waters, surrounded by towering peaks, three visible glaciers, and abundant wildlife.
Spirit Island: This is the lake's most famous feature and one of the most photographed landscapes in all of Canada. This small, picturesque peninsula (which sometimes appears as an island) is exclusively reachable via the scenic boat cruises or by canoe/kayak.
Origin: The lake, which is approximately 22 km (14 mi) long, is fed by glaciers and drains into the Maligne River. It was made known to non-Indigenous explorers in the early 20th century, with the help of Indigenous leader Samson Beaver, who knew it as Chaba Imne.
Activities: Besides the cruise to Spirit Island, the lake is popular for renting canoes or kayaks, fishing, and hiking, including the starting point of the renowned Skyline Trail.
Gorgeous sparkling blue waters surround this volcanic archipelago . Great view across the bays to nearby islands. The rocky spire to the right of the frame is called "The Pinnacle". It appears much taller from water level. :)

High flood waters surround the Indiana Sub as J780 works towards Mitchell with 43 cars, this would be my last shot of the evening having no accessible and easy way to get back in the chase. The waters you see to the right is actually where a road is supposed to be.

This tranquil scene from the wetlands captures a solitary Canada Goose gliding across the reflective waters, surrounded by the golden hues of the fading vegetation. The soft ripples around the bird tell of its gentle passage, creating a harmonious balance with the stillness of the environment. The rich, autumnal colors of the reeds and grasses provide a beautiful contrast to the goose's iconic black and white markings. The image is a snapshot of life in the wetlands, showcasing the quiet majesty of a creature in its natural setting, undisturbed and in tune with the rhythm of the wild. The Canada Goose, a symbol of wildlife's grace and adaptability, stands out as the focal point in this testament to the serene moments that nature bestows.

Mooney Falls is such a beautiful place hidden in the Grand Canyon and well worth the climb down the ladders and chains along the canyon wall to reach the bottom of the falls
The falls are located on the Havasupai Reservation in the Grand Canyon and are nearly 200ft tall with inviting turquoise waters surrounded by the most vibrant red canyon walls.
Autumn colours at Plitvice lakes National park in Croatia, Europe. The walks by the lakes (sixteen of them) are incredibly serene and tranquil, the scenery is unrealistically beautiful. The sound of roaring waterfalls contrasting with the slow movement of the lake waters surrounded by forests transports you into the parallel reality of the Lord of the Rings kind.

Seems like every state that has a lake, also has a "Lost Lake". The name rolls off the tongue and visiting it implies a certain amount of adventure or intrigue.
This is Oregon's "Lost Lake". Here you will find calm waters surrounded by forest with a spectacular view of Mt. Hood. I also found a woman doing some evening fly fishing which made for a very Pacific Northwest-ish image.
This weekend we are going in search of another "Lost Lake"....this time in central Washington. Although it will be hard to match the beauty of the Oregon version, it will be fun to find it.
