Sometimes work feels like I'm watching paint peel, especially on beautiful days when I'd rather be out taking photos.
These were all taken with a cellphone and would of been perfect except for the lame orange macro lens reflection...

These 2 Wild Turkeys were trying to attract a female closeby by outpuffing each other. They do it so nicely and peacefully without a hint of violence.

Watching the news these days makes me question the sanity and sense of the human race. I sometimes feel that the media makes this virtual reality that eventually makes us blind to reality, refuse to listen to reason, and intelligent people stop from saying truth because no one will listen.
So that's the reason behind the title. Why the neon green duct tape, you ask? I went to Home Depot yesterday afternoon in search of bungee cables and an extenable painters pole. While walking around, I saw a display of brightly colored duct tape. I bought a couple of different colors, so you may see duct tape show up again in the future.
Also, today I received my second speedlight - the LumoPro LP160. It's pretty awesome.

This photo was taken the day after the flood levels in Brisbane reached their peak. This is Le Geyt St in Windsor - the 1974 flood level reached beyond the top step of this house, but the street was luckier this time around. We went to check on my brother's house and found the downstairs area in a complete mess but upstairs was dry. There were a few people wading in and out of neighbouring yards carrying bags of ice, guitars, groceries. We spoke to a young woman who was staying with her dad - they had been without power for almost 2 days but were sticking it out. Another household had started packing their essentials into a little boat. We chatted with a young dude who was staying with his girlfriend to keep her company. "Well, my sorta girlfriend. We only met two days ago".

In addition to cover crop incorporation into the berms, hedge rows, pond and end row beneficial plants and trees, I'll be recommending a pollinator plot in this space.
Very interesting project, which I'll pass to my daughter, for incorporation of indigenous floral to entice indigenous fauna. Big Horned Owl boxes, which are thick like fleas in the creek to our north. Putting up Barn Owl boxes would be cruel. The Big Horned Owl is referred to as The Tiger Owl. In addition, hawk and eagle perches. Yay! They're not there for beauty but for function. These join forces with the Fox, Coyote, and 2 Otter families. And I'm not mentioning all the fauna that benefits, frogs, snakes, etc. 90% of the fauna is in the invertebrates. I'm looking for balance between floral and fauna in the predator / prey cycles.
Update: Well that wetlands habitat grant took a dump fast, agent didn't like the Johnson Grass. Guess they didn't read the project review before arriving on site. Watch this space, crows are circling.
Update2: They're Back! Guess when I'm the only organic block in town, you get more consideration. Incorporation of a more polyculture transitions berms and end rows with the raptor perches and boxes is back.
the locals here are watching over Banksy's Ghetto 4 Life wall mural.

Eckhart Tolle is considered one of the world's most influential spiritual teachers - a master of inner calm and peace. In a nutshell, he teaches that you are not your mind. In fact, Eckhart says, your mind is your worst enemy. It overtakes the real you and creates thoughts that make you miserable. So if you want to achieve peace, you've got to disassociate yourself from your mind. The key ? Live in the present. Eckhart sums it all up in his book 'The Power of Now.' He wrote it in Vancouver, where he now lives. The book came out in 1997 and has sold more than five million copies, thanks, in large part, to an on-air plug from Oprah. She's also a big fan of Eckhart's follow-up book, 'A New Earth.'
This baby alpaca watch cap got all stretched out after a few years of wear. It looked ridiculously silly on Everett and too loose to be warm or useful. I figured there was enough slack to insert a short brim, and indeed there was - not the most elegant of solutions, but quite functional and not badly done, given what a hack it was.
