Only a few days to go before the calendar date for Lughnasadh — I’m always more of a believer in picking a convenient day, close to the date, that also 'feels' right. Here in the south of the UK, the last harvests are pretty many much gathered; the combines fall silent once more and the fields are bare.

On our last night in Lofoten we climbed the peak called Himmeltinden to watch the midnight sun one last time. It was like nothing else being completely alone up there looking out to sea, the sun on one side, the moon on the other. I felt as big a gratitude for the moment as I do now for the memory.

There is still an old-school music shop in Cracow, PL You know, the kind where music is stored in physical form rather than in over 9000 subscriptions ;>

You can meet dinosaurs there who come with their Walkmans and portable CD players. But keep quiet, because they scare easily.

Rich autumn colours sweep across the Blayney district in Central West NSW, with golden trees and warm seasonal tones highlighting the rural landscape.

You are my hero, Dad

You're my secure foundation.

When I think of you, I'm filled with love

And fond appreciation.

You make me feel protected;

I'm sheltered by your care.

You're always my true friend; and Dad,

When I need you, you're always there.

You have a place of honor

Deep within my heart.

You've been my superhero, Dad,

Right from the very start.

Love you forever dad i'm very proud of being your son- sriram raghavan

This beautifully preserved machiya (町家) in Kanazawa is a prime example of traditional Edo-period architecture, blending history with modern elegance. The wooden latticework (koshi) on the lower level once served as a discreet way to allow airflow and light while maintaining privacy, a hallmark of classic merchant houses. The dark-stained wood and white plaster walls reflect the careful craftsmanship that has kept these structures standing for centuries.

Kanazawa’s chaya districts—including Higashi Chaya, Kazuemachi, and Nishi Chaya—are renowned for such two-story wooden townhouses, which were historically used as geisha teahouses and merchant residences. The second-floor windows, often covered with bamboo screens (sudare), hint at the building’s past, where patrons once enjoyed performances in intimate, softly lit spaces.

The glowing lanterns lining the entrance create an inviting warmth, while the carefully arranged rock garden at the doorstep adds a touch of Zen minimalism. The roof eaves, with their slightly curved kawara tiles, are designed to channel rainwater away while adding a decorative flourish to the structure.

Despite being surrounded by modern buildings in the background, this historic street remains a quiet retreat, offering visitors a glimpse into Japan’s architectural past. Walking through these lantern-lit alleys at night evokes a sense of timelessness, as if stepping into a bygone era where tradition and craftsmanship reign supreme.

She'll lead you down the path

There'll be tenderness in the air

She'll let you come just far enough

So you know she's really there

Then she'll look at you and smile

And her eyes'll say

She's got a secret garden

Where everything you want

Where everything you need will always stay

A million miles away

The original negative and the scene are quite low contrast, so I had to resort to lith printing to get this look.

I've discovered a trove of pictures I took on a seminar swing over three weeks in Northern California, Oregon and Washington in 2004. I got a LOT of pictures, which I'm just recently rediscovering. This is fun!

This is somewhere between Orick and Klamath, California. It was probably among the Redwoods, although I don't remember the situation of this particular picture.

Finally made it to the end of this insane week. The fast pace and chaotic mood that started Monday didn't taper off as the week continued and up until quitting time today things were piling up and getting left behind as more pressing matters would arise.

Fingers crossed that with a few of the key players of the office away next week I'll have the chance to catch up, because honestly when it was time to leave I just locked up and walked away. I was not staying late on Friday.

When I shot my photo on Monday, I figured I'd end the week with this, and as the madness continued to build the more suiting this seemed to become. Also, as a side note; for anyone wanting to try this, be warned, writing with beans can be a pain and a little time consuming!

Hope everyone has had a good day.

in el arenal, where the sun-soaked streets echo with stories of leisure and carefree days, thomas blends into the vibrant scene, not with stealth, but with humor. his propeller hat, a playful nod to the fun-loving spirit of the place, spins lightly in the warm breeze, a beacon of cheerful irony among the more predictable beach attire. thomas, camera in hand, captures the pulse of the "deutsche meile," leaning in, crouching low, every movement a dance with the lens. here, amidst the blend of german voices and spanish charm, he’s not just a photographer; he’s part of the scenery, recording the day with a wink and a grin. the photo, no doubt, will reflect the same—joyful, alive, and just a bit mischievous.

Hiking at Ahornboden is an unforgettable experience, especially in autumn. The large Ahornboden in the Karwendel in Tyrol is famous for its incredibly beautiful foliage color. And then attracts with its over 2000 trees every year countless people to hike. It is not for nothing that the Große Ahornboden was even declared a natural monument.

Do you ever get this warm feeling in your heart when looking at something, because it just makes you so happy? For me one of those things is the play of light and shadow, all the time.

My work is all over the place in this internet world, but my blog is where everything comes together in one place. I have recently made a list of tags I often use on there, in order to be able to go back to collections of certain feelings and moments. On there, you’ll find the term happy heart, which is what I described before: All the things that make me truly happy. I have had this blog for seven years now and there are so many memories hidden there. Stop by sometime if you’d like. :)
