Yeah, it was good. Had walnut streusel on top and in the middle. I made the cake batter with orange juice, so it tasted slightly citrusy. Nice.

Plumed in striking black and walnut tones, this is our smallest oriole. Valley Lot. SPI.

This very fresh moth came to a light in a suburban area.

Walnut Sphinx - Amorpha juglandis (male)

Somewhat serrate antennae and thin abdomen indicate this is a male, I believe. I have seen a female of this species once or twice, and the antennae are almost thread-like, the abdomen plump.

Autumn evening sun ~ and a glass of wine (not in picture).

I made this on Sunday, so it's really new!

I am still working through my pile of scrap wood and offcuts from other projects, and have challenged myself to make something small each week for fun.

I used a forstner bit to clean out the bulk of the material, then used a downcut router bit to tidy up the bottom of the tray.

The inside sides were then cleaned up by hand with a chisel. Finished with Danish Oil.

There were loads of spiders showing on fences at Otmoor. It has been a while since I used the macro gear and I am hooked already.

Home made spread made from black olives and walnuts with crispbread.
