The first leaves on our Walnut tree this year

Black walnut kernels are a high-energy food that is rich in healthy oils, vitamins and minerals. Eating walnuts is good for the heart and the circulatory system, and has been shown to lower cholesterol. Black walnuts are also very rich in Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin E and vitamin C. They been shown to help relieve colic and heartburn.

We had a great harvest of black walnuts this year, and my husband is doing a great job of cracking them. So far, we have a full quart of nice pieces.

I used to love making boats with walnut shells. ( This one's a Spanish galleon loaded with gold. )

With the fall colors fading in northwest Pennsylvania, Norfolk Southern train 179 crosses the viaduct over Walnut Creek near Fairview on the Lake Erie District.

Some friends kindly dropped off a bag of their home grown walnuts.

Getting into the Christmas spirit. The lighting is the three candles of the Advent wreath behind the subject and a few tealights either side. Otherwise the kitchen was in complete darkness.

  

For dry fruits lovers.

Holiday traditions - we would always have a bowl of mixed nuts for Thanksgiving & Christmas Holiday's.

I'm starting to play around with a little personal project on Walnut Street downtown. It runs the gamut from modern corporate headquarters to some older buildings that have been saved and are being renovated. I'll put these all in an album and see where it goes.
