Sculpture in Context is a pivotal event in the Irish arts calendar and as the longest running, largest and most important sculpture exhibition in the country, the annual exhibition attracts a large public and critical audience and is the cultural highlight of the National Botanic Gardens calendar. This year Sculpture in Context will celebrate 35 years exhibiting and promoting sculpture in Ireland.
Bringing together the work of over 140 artists using an incredible range of media, these works of art represent the richly diverse character of Irish and International contemporary sculpture today. From the smallest, most intricate ceramic works to stone sculptures of a monumental scale, visitors to the exhibition will be enriched by the experience of viewing such inspiring works in one location. This is the same place as pictured in this picture, but at night rather than in the early evening.
Technically speaking, there's probably something all wrong with this picture - with the yellowish streetlight positively flooding the scene in colour, thanks to the long exposure. But I like it because it really conveys the mood of this place, and why its my favourite streetcorner of the city, especially in the evening.

The best three shots each week, shot from the HIP, on a Friday. Inspired by John Brack’s “Collins St., 5pm” - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collins_St.,_5_pm the rules are simple;
•Do not use the view finder or LCD screen when taking aim; ‘shoot from the hip’
•Do not review, delete etc. until home.
•Only post photos taken on a Friday.
Though not a rule, unofficially this is a project about/featuring people; perhaps occasionally an animal. It is after all about the day, Friday and our relationship with the end of the (western), working week.
If you see me walking down the street
And I start to cry each time we meet
Walk on by, walk on by...
Nothing like some good old Dionne Warwick.
Horribly blurred, but I rather liked this quick snap.
I also rather like the half-assed attempt at soffit-painting. Maybe they've finished it now.
Sat on the floor of the hospital atrium to take shots of people walking past. The problem was that lots of them stopped as they approached because they thought they would get in the way of what I was trying to photograph! I got some strange looks too!
Walk On By (Dionne Warwick)
If you see me walking down the street
And I start to cry each time we meet
Walk on by, walk on by
Make believe
that you don't see the tears
Just let me grieve
in private 'cause each time I see you
I break down and cry
And walk on by (don't stop)
And walk on by (don't stop)
And walk on by
I just can't get over losing you
And so if I seem broken and blue
Walk on by, walk on by
Foolish pride
Is all that I have left
So let me hide
The tears and the sadness you gave me
When you said goodbye
Walk on by
and walk on by
and walk by (don't stop)
Walk on by, walk on by
Foolish pride
Is all that I have left
So let me hide
The tears and the sadness you gave me
When you said goodbye
Walk on by (don't stop)
and walk on by (don't stop)
and walk by (don't stop)
“Maybe if I share the path I walk, a little more of your pain will vanish. I want you to heal, whoever you are. I don't care what pain you've brought the world, I just want yours to subside. No matter what, your path is yours. Don't follow misery or worry. Devote every moment of your life to improving your dreams. Love your world. Cherish the good you do. Let go of hatred. Dream of love.” ~ anon ~
“This life is yours.
Take the power to choose what you want to do and do it well.
Take the power to love what you want in life and love it honestly.
Take the power to walk in the forest and be a part of nature.
Take the power to control your own life. No one else can do it for you.
Take the power to make your life happy.” ~ Susan Polis Schutz ~
Lately I've been trying to walk. It's not my favorite thing to do, as I'd rather be home creating! However, everyone knows walking is good exercise and actually stimulates the brain . . . so why do I procrastinate? In the past, I've actually played a game with myself in trying to pick up interesting objects along the way. These pieces of red reflectors were beside the road. Of course I couldn't wait to rush to my computer to organize a bit of my day! Ah, now I feel better!
I should entitle this piece, "Reflections" ~ Inspire me about YOUR walks!

We walk by this place at least once a week on our shopping trips. It seems very modest.
The photo title is from a Midnight Oil song called "US Forces".
Tate Modern, London. Passing time. I felt I had to take some photos but really I just wanted to run and slide down the polished floor with the kids.
