Had a day out at the Retro Rides Show at Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb in the Summer so here are a few snaps from the event.
3rd times the charm with a town-scale MK1 Golf - this time it's 7-wide, with an all new roof and rear end, and the front end from the Caddy remake. I think this definitely the best version so far. And with it's new extra w i d t h it would look at home next the upcoming 8-wide Speed Champions sets. Well, other than the fact that this doesn't have half a trees worth of stickers.
This Golf is also called Golf Type I. The VW Golf was the successor of the famous VW Beetle. It was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Italdesign and introduced in May 1974.
The standard for mid-class cars had for decades the following features: water-cooled, front-engine, front-traction. But for Volkswagen was this a new concept. The Golf was for VW the second complete new car following this basic concept after the new 1973 Passat.
The Golf turned out to be the most successful car for VW. It has outdriven the famous Beetle in selling figures.
Steel bumpers were replaced by black plastic ones in Aug. 1978.
In Aug. 1980 received the Golf bigger rear lamp units like this Golf on the photo.
The Golf model is still produced today.
The quality of the picture is not that well. It's made with my old IPhone-4 because my own Cannon camera was broken at the time.
1272 or 1457 cc.
828 kg.
