For 52 Weeks for Dogs -- 45/52

In this day and age, exercising your right to vote is more important than ever. Here in the US, more people turned out to vote for a midterm election than ever before. Flattery wanted to vote for better canine healthcare, mandatory treats at least five times a day and more tail wagging. Alas, those things weren't on the ballot, but I didn't tell her Instead, I cast my vote that I hope will make life better for all of us, including dogs.

You can read more about Flattery at TalesAndTails.com.

It’s the spring general election, and I voted in person for the first time since the February 2020 spring primary.

Last day to vote Mikey for Prom King tomorrow...

From GreyMuzzle.org this morning:

Surely you’ve seen all the cute photos posted on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for Grey Muzzle’s first-ever #SeniorDogProm. Our fun contest even made headlines on Today.com and People.com.

We know dressing dogs up in prom outfits may strike some as silly, but if it helps people take a second look and think about opening their hearts and homes to older dogs, then it's worth it. Anyone who sees photos of our finalists can't help but smile and realize that old dogs are every bit as adorable, lovable and adoptable as younger pups.

And while the winners will have bragging rights for the year, most importantly we hope the Senior Dog Prom will help each of our adoptable dogs find their forever home and second chance at a happy ending--the ultimate prize.

There’s still time to vote for Prom Queen, Prom King and Cutest Couple. Check out our fabulous finalists and vote for your favorites in each category until May 31. Winners will be announced in early June. To take part in the cutest prom event ever click here: greymuzzle.org/2017-senior-dog-prom-finalists

Yes, I did vote today.

On my exit from the polls, they had something a little fancier than the "I Voted Today" stickers. I decided to leave this one on the backing and save it. Thought it was nice to have a memento of this very important Right as a female citizen.

Vote like your future depends on the outcome, because it does! Vote Blue up and down the ticket!!

I voted last Thursday on the first day of early voting in Maryland. The turnout has been strong every day since with yesterday setting a record. There is so much at stake. As I was leaving the polling place one of the workers thanked me for voting- I said it's my responsibility! It's yours too- be sure to exercise this vital right.

No stickers this time around, so a digital background makes up for it. Proud to have exercised my rights.

Have your say, do it now!

#WhenWeAllVote

Today is the first day of NAIDOC week

In the city there was a gathering with lots of speeches and musical entertainment to gather support for the ‘Vote Yes’ campaign for the referendum later this year to actually give the indigenous people of this country a voice in Parliament. Amazing that this still has to happen!!! Hoping for an overwhelming ‘Yes’ vote of course.

NAIDOC Week (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) occurs annually in July, and celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

What is the Voice to Parliament?

The Voice would provide permanent representation and recognition for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Constitution.

It would be a new body that represents First Nations people from across Australia to provide their input into federal government, decisions, policies and laws that affect their lives.

This would be on matters relating to the social, spiritual and economic wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The Voice would be an advisory body, but it would not have powers to overrule parliament, commonly known as "veto" powers
