*Only 55% of Americans voted in the 2012 election. That was even a presidential election year. A very sad turnout when USA is considered the beacon of democracy, or at least used to be. We should be a country leading by example. Voicing our freedom to elect our representatives. A freedom many others only dream of having. A freedom many fought and died for so we could have that voice. No matter how insignificant you think your vote is, your vote does count. It counts as an example to your kids, as an example to nations striving for democracy, and as a debt paid to those who died for your right to vote.

Light Juggler" was the winner of our staff vote for submission. To begin the creative process, this group of students considered the reflective and malleable properties of aluminum and the playfulness of experimenting with contrast, light and dark. What began as a vague idea about “Disco Dodgeball” evolved into a much deeper understanding of light, motion and fluidity throughthe medium of photography. They took deliberate steps to adjust exposure and shutter speed, then applied their understandings of graphic design (through small Photoshop enhancements) to the final image.
Yes, I know that Obama's positions and beliefs more closely resemble my own than Clinton's do. And I know that the two of them are locked in a very close contest. But I believe very strongly that voting for a candidate who you do not feel comfortable supporting, because they are not quite as bad as another candidate, undermines the system. And I do not feel comfortable supporting Obama for a number of reasons.
I'm not actually even a Democrat, and only registered as one so that I could vote for Kucinich today. I might have accepted Mike Gravel as a still (however distantly) in the race option, but he did not make it onto the New York state ballot.
And so, even though he has withdrawn from the race, I put my X in Kucinich's column, with personal integrity, as a protest vote in a system that continues to disappoint.
