Democracy can sometimes take a long time

I voted. On my walk to and from the library I saw a steady flow of people with sample ballots in hand. All booths were full when I arrived. Dropped off my hard fought for mail in ballot. They were not going to stop me from voting.

it's your right (obama)! it's important (obama)! please vote (obama)! for whichever candidate (obama) you feel will do the best job (obama) for this country (obama)!

A sign in L'Agulhas, Western Cape, hanging around after the 2024 South African General Election. Written in Afrikaans, in English, it means - "Only Jesus can save you; vote for Jesus. So long as you mark your cross for Jesus, you are a member of the Eternity Party."

Voted early in our upcoming national election. This is the voting form for the Senate (in white with 122 candidates) with the green House of Representatives (5 candidates) form on top. (Sorry for the poor focus - I'm not even sure if it is legal to take a photo in the voting booth.)

Go to VOTE and make a difference!

Voter reading voters’ pamphlet

I voted early, since I worked both jobs today. Kinda glad I did, because my line was sitting in chairs waiting for my number to be called instead of standing in the car. :)

I went to the polling station today to vote in the European elections.

I voted for the Green Party, not to keep the BNP from gaining a seat, but because my instinct tells me to vote Green and I generally like what they have to say. Helping to prevent the BNP from gaining a seat is an added bonus though.

We had some kind of local election as well, I only really went to vote in the Euro election so this took me a little by surprise, and I had to choose two candidates to vote for. The choices were between Labour, Conservative, Liberals and UKIP. I thought for about 3 seconds and voted for Labour and Conservative as at least that will mean that UKIP get less of a share of the total vote.

the line to vote at my polling place in Brooklyn, 7:20am

Finding a place to put a ballot box in rural Kentucky was no problem, years ago. Every precinct had at least one general store/post office, a natural choice for a polling place.

It's not that simple today. Most of the country general stores are gone, and it can be nearly impossible to find a good central location for a precinct's voting machine. In those cases, county governments sometimes build a place where the people can vote.

That seems to have been the situation that resulted in the building, above, in Clinton County. The concrete-block building, with a sign declaring it the "Neathery Cave Springs Voting House", is weatherproof and has electricity for the voting machine, lights, and perhaps a space heater. There is even a unisex privy behind the voting house.

The siren towering above the voting house probably is part of a severe weather warning system. As I recall, a tornado ripped through this part of southern Kentucky a few years ago.

Pumped about democracy!

I barley made it before the polls closed after work, but I made it. My voice (rather touch on the screen) was heard. I have been following the races, finding out the stand each canidate had different issues, and informing myslef on the policital histories of those wanting to be my elected official. I did not vote "democrat" or "republican", rather I voted whom I personally felt represented my values and views.

the ladies at my polling place were super nice, allowed me to take whatever pictures I wished, and gave me an extra sticker for the "other cheek".

A cute side note, I found when i had gotten home that my children harassed the voters on thier recess begging for the "I voted" stickers. My son got the most stickers of any of the kids in his class.. Go figure.

Tyrus taking a minute to cheese at me from the voting booth. Third grade mock elections are more fun than real elections!

I voted electronically last night at a ROVER mobile polling vehicle at the Metrolink train station in Riverside.

It took about 20 minutes and was quite convenient. I didn't want to have to deal with voting next Tuesday since I have a long commute to and from work. ;)

Uh, is it clear what my neighborhood thinks? Vote No!
