This is a really cool piece of architecture and was inspirational to wall around.
Thoughts and comments always appreciated.

Nature purists aren't likely to prefer Vortex Spring over others in Florida's Panhandles. Vortex thrives by providing visitors with a variety of contraptions such as jumping platforms, diving boards, swings, and water slides to provide enjoyment of the clear water. It's a very unnatural setting, and the head spring leaves a lot to be desired. Nevertheless, I found my visit to Vortex to be a lot of fun, even if it's not what springs are typically all about.
This is the first shot I have uploaded that was taken with my new Nikon D700 and 16-35 F4 Nikon lens.
It was taken on a recent trip to Frankfurt Germany. There is a great shopping mall that my wife discovered called MyZeil. Its an amazing architectural wonder with a really big vortex thing that flows through the whole place.
It starts outside in the front and surges through the mall from top to bottom. Its quite stunning.
I have some other shots that I will post later that may show the effect better. The whole place is a photographers dream with lots of curves and soft warm lighting.
We had a great trip to Europe even if there was a massive ash cloud that slowed air travel to a stand still!!.
As always your comments and thoughts are much appreciated.
Cheers
Mark

A new joint operation - called Operation Vortex - has gotten underway today (Wednesday 19 January 2022) in Oldham to crack down on vehicle crime and traffic offences in the district.
The Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit, along with officers from GMP's Safer Transport Team and officers across the Oldham District, worked along the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency at a static base in Chadderton, stopping a number of vehicles either committing traffic offences, or vehicle crime.
Two men arrested, one on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs, and one for driving while disqualified and remain in custody for questioning, ten vehicles have been seized for being driven with no insurance, and one stolen vehicle has been recovered.
In addition, officers also reported 35 traffic offences for a range of driving offences.
Chief Superintendent Mark Dexter from GMP's Specialist Operations said: "This will become a regular operation across Greater Manchester, where we will strive to make our communities and roads safer, tackling illegal vehicles which we know that are all too often used in crime and cause harm and misery on the roads.
"I hope this sends a strong message to anyone thinking of breaking the law on our roads, that we are watching, and we won't hesitate to take action to remove you and your vehicle from the road."

Finally found one of the famed Sedona spiritual/energy vortexes - and got it on film!
(Yup, I carried that top all the way up there just to make a photo. Almost lost it over the edge twice while I was trying, for some reason it wasn't all that stable up there...)

Leaving Sedona: We were looking for a shorter trail to hike on the way back up to Flag and thought we'd found it. The Wilson Mountain trail promised views of Sedona and at 2.8 miles each way was a very reasonable distance. We hiked and hiked and it seemed we were keeping up a good pace but it was taking a long time, way too long for 2.8 miles. We enjoyed the terrific views of Sedona (and found one of those famous vortexes) then hoofed it down moving fast to stay ahead of muddy-pawed shepherd Gretchen the German Shephard, who would have preferred to hike with us. Descent Time: 2 hrs, 10 minutes. Even stopping for photos, that's no 2.8 miles... At our pace, that would put the distance at a little over 5 miles.
And son of a gun, checking the Forest Service info shows the distance at 5.2 miles one way. So much for believing the guidebook! At least we're not losing it, we can still do 10+ miles and 2,300 feet of "up' in a day, the trick, I guess, is not knowing about it ahead of time :^)

This video is pretty cool.
I had an idea a few days back to shoot a vortex ring into a candle flame. then I got the better idea of shooting a vortex ring of alcohol vapor into a candle flame and hope that it caught fire. I built up a simple plastic container into a ring launcher and poured in a little isopropyl alcohol. I aimed them into a propane torch and got little rings of flame.
So I set up a candle in from of my mirror and this was the result. First try looked really cool.
I'd like to see if I can get little more light into the set-up so that the noise level is lower. But this is a good first effort.
Cheers.

Plasma vortex or one of the insane spectacles in "The House on the Rock"?
This was a 15 second exposure, 100 ISO, and f/16. I wish I had some science for why I chose those settings, but it was pretty much a gut feeling and it worked on the first try. I think I'm getting a better feel for the math of photography. And yes, we had to stand very still.
