When we talk about voice search, many would start thinking about local web searches and #B2C #SEO. Nevertheless, the voice search is now being used beyond searches for restaurants or hearing the cooking recipes. The fact is that B2B now seems to give provide a SEO opportunity to B2B businesses.

To better understand how B2B marketing is going to be influenced by voice search, it would be important to look at voice search’s usage from the perspective of three W’s (who, why and where).

Who are using voice search?

According to a report in 2014, about 55% of teens and 41% of adults were using voice searches. Among adults, the usage of this tool is due to their desire in avoiding using type pad while creating text messages. On the other hand, teens use voice search to get help in #homework.

There are some stats which illustrate how voice search is stepping into our lives.

• #Personal-Assistant is now being installed as a default feature in #smartphones.

• During 2016 holiday season, Amazon Echo was the best selling product on Amazon.

• It is estimated that sales of Amazon Echo and Google Home will rise exceeding 24 million this year.

The increase in adoption of personal assistant devices shows that people like to get accustomed to get things done using voice commands. Hence, one can foresee the use of voice searches in organic searches and, eventually, B2B marketing in the near future.

Why voice searches are being used?

Although familiarity with voice search is seen as one of the most prominent reasons for its usage, convenience in getting things done is also the equally big reason.

Because voice search is faster and more #user-friendly, the usage is increasing with every passing day. The people, who find it difficult to type on small devices in order to search anything, find using voice search as the most convenient alternative. Another reason is that it is pretty much faster than searching by text, given the accuracy of device and software in translating #voice-commands.

According to Google, voice searches are now 95% accurate. It is 20% more accurate than what it was in 2013. The average speed of speaking is usually 3-times faster than what can be typed per minute. Hence, if the accuracy level gets equal to that of typing text, there is no reason for the people to delay adoption of voice search as the primary option to search over internet.

Again, this situation is leading to the adoption of voice searches by #B2B marketers in order to perform SEO and other digital marketing tasks.

Where it is being used?

While we may assume that voice search is used while driving the car or cooking in kitchen, research shows that 50% of the voice search users are business persons who use this feature while working in their offices. This is one of the most convincing reasons, perhaps a signal, that B2B SEO and marketing are going to be greatly influenced by voice search.

Excerpt from Portable defibrillators rely on reed relays in high-voltage charging circuit Tue, 06/26/2012 - 10:13am by John Beigel, MEDER electronic, www.meder.com

Portable Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are showing up regularly in places where large groups of people congregate, like airports and sports stadiums. This huge increase in the number of portable AEDs has not been driven by governmental regulation, but by the overwhelming evidence that they save lives.

And what helps to keep an AED ready to work reliably the first time, even if it has been sitting for weeks, months, and sometimes years? The hermetically sealed high voltage reed switches, in an epoxy sealed package, offer all the protection needed in difficult environments, such as moving vehicles or moist, dusty, dirty environments.

The rise in portable AEDs

Every year many thousands of peoples’ lives are saved by resuscitation in a hospital environment with a standard defibrillator after their heart stops beating. However, thousands of heart attack deaths occur every day among those unable get to a medical facility in time to be resuscitated. In fact, according to the American Red Cross, as many as 50,000 cardiac arrest fatalities could be prevented each year with the assistance of an AED, because an on-site AED reduces the amount of time necessary to restore normal heart function while waiting for medical assistance.

Figure 1. Portable AEDs are becoming somewhat ubiquitous in places where large numbers of people gather, like airports, due to their ease of use. In response, medical equipment manufacturers have developed portable defibrillators that are being placed in public areas where people are apt to gather. Walk down the halls or aisles of airports, offices, shopping centers, restaurants, casinos, sports stadiums, schools, and health clubs, and you’ll spot the ubiquitous box, just awaiting the time it will be called into action. They also show up in large airplanes, ambulances, medical vehicles of all kinds, and can even be purchased for home use. See Figure 1.

By contrast, standard external types of defibrillators require a trained EMT, or other medically trained person to operate. This person needs to be able to carry out the diagnostics, manually set charge levels, and time the pulse train if additional shocks are necessary. Standard defibrillators are usually much larger than AEDs, and typically found only in hospitals.

The portable battery-powered AED is approximately the size of a textbook. The unit contains two adhesive sensors joined by power lines to the main unit. (See Figure 2). An AED is similar in concept to manual defibrillators found in hospitals, but has been designed for use by people who have never used or operated one before, or never had any medical training. Units are labeled so that they can even be operated by users who can’t read.

Figure 2. In order to make AEDs more easily operable, directions are simple and include straightforward diagrams for those who cannot read.

Once activated, the unit typically verbally walks users through the setup and operational process, providing audio voice commands to guide the user through proper alignment of the sensors, power activation, and shock procedures. AEDs are totally self-diagnostic; once connected to a patient, the AED sensors analyze heart rhythm to determine if a shock is necessary. If the AED detects ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia or a non-beating heart, a high voltage shock is usually initiated.

This shock sends a high voltage and current pulse across the heart to shock the heart back into operation. Sometimes, repeated shocks are required before the heart starts operating again. If repeated shocks are necessary, a charging circuit in the defibrillator is activated to supply the next power burst. This charging circuit needs to be switched in and out in a reliable manner, in a guaranteed fault-free mode, to ensure proper recharging.

Being stuck in traffic - which isn't unusual in Hong Kong or other larger cities - I got to take this picture.

While the other traffic is blocking the view, look how detailed the graphic on the lower right is. Not only does it show the lanes I need to be in, but also the surroundings, helping me to recognise the general area.

Very nice, BMW!

Now please add a touch screen keyboard, free text search, street numbers and finally ... choosing what area, district, town. Just let me search the road, and give me the options.

Once again, when the destination is programmed, the graphics and voice commands are really good.

Just had a bag of polystyrene filling delivered and thought it would be fun to see what happened when I dropped my phone (s6) into the bag and tried to trigger the camera with the voice command. Semi successful in part but I ended up just holding the phone and shooting as too many of the shot didn't work.

The Typhoon FGR4 provides the RAF with a highly capable and extremely agile multi-role combat aircraft, capable of being deployed in the full spectrum of air operations, including air policing, peace support and high intensity conflict.

Specifications

Engines: 2 Eurojet EJ200 turbojets

Thrust: 20,000lbs each

Max speed: 1.8Mach

Length: 15.96m

Max altitude: 55,000ft

Span: 11.09m

Aircrew: 1

Armament: Paveway IV, AMRAAM, ASRAAM, Mauser 27mm Cannon, Enhanced Paveway II

Initially deployed in the air-to- air role as the Typhoon F2, the aircraft now has a potent and precise multirole capability.

The pilot can carry out many functions by voice command or through a handson stick and throttle system. Combined with an advanced cockpit and the HEA (Helmet equipment assembly) the pilot is superbly equipped for all aspects of air operations.

Britain, Germany, Italy and Spain formally agreed to start development of the aircraft in 1988 with contracts for a first batch of 148 aircraft – of which 53 were for the RAF – signed ten years later. Deliveries to the RAF started in 2003 to 17(R) Sqn who were based at BAE Systems Warton Aerodrome in Lancashire (alongside the factory where the aircraft were assembled) while detailed development and testing of the aircraft was carried out. Formal activation of the first Typhoon Squadron at RAF Coningsby occurred on the 1st Jul 2005. The aircraft took over responsibility for UK QRA on 29 Jun 2007 and was formally declared as an advanced Air Defence platform on 1 Jan 2008.

Initial production aircraft of the F2 Tranche 1 standard were capable of air-to-air roles only and were the first Typhoons to hold UK QRA duties. In order to fulfill a potential requirement for Typhoon to deploy to Op HERRICK, urgent single-nation work was conducted on Tranche 1 to develop an air-to-ground capability in 2008. Tranche 1 aircraft were declared as multi-role in Jul 2008, gaining the designation FGR4 (T3 2-seat variant), fielding the Litening Laser Designator Pod and Paveway 2, Enhanced Paveway 2 and 1000lb freefall class of weapons.

All F2/T1 aircraft have been upgraded to FGR4/T3.

Tranche 2 aircraft deliveries commenced under the 4-nation contract in 2008, in the air-to-air role only. These aircraft were deployed to the Falkland Islands to take-over duties from the Tornado F3 in Sep 09.

A total of 53 Tranche 1 aircraft were delivered, with Tranche 2 contract provisioning for 91 aircraft. 24 of these were diverted to fulfill the RSAF export campaign, leaving 67 Tranche 2 aircraft due for delivery to the RAF. The Tranche 3 contract has been signed and will deliver 40 aircraft. With the Tranche 1 aircraft fleet due to retire over the period 2015-18, this will leave 107 Typhoon aircraft in RAF service until 2030.

Weapons integration will include Meteor air-to-air missile, Paveway IV, Storm Shadow, Brimstone and Small Diameter Bomb. Additionally, it is intended to upgrade the radar to an Active Electronically Scanned Array.

This use of animals for human amusement in circuses or single shows like this is a far cry from the older blood sports of bull fighting, bear baiting, cock fighting, dog racing, and dog fighting. But still it is altogether a different relationship of man and beast from what pets enjoy or are expected to do; different again to the treatment and purpose of working animals meant for labor or transportation (lumber elephants, draft horses, milk or beef cows, sheep for meat and skin and wool). There was no whip being cracked, simply voice commands and sometimes a tug on the neck rope.

The history and current forms of monkey performances have been chronicled in English by Emiko Ohnuki-Tierney, interpreting with special interest in psychological and symbolic sets of meaning for the relationship of man and beast. But to actually see a show in person is not an everyday occurrance. This performing team occupied a central grassy space adjacent to the snack and souvenir building on top of the ski resort at Mt. Hakodake at the north end of Shiga-ken, within view of Lake Biwa and the the city of Takashima. Perhaps 25 or so families and couples had bought a ticket to ride the gondola the the 690 meter facilities atop the mountain where vast plantations of lilies colored the slopes now in the off-season. A portable PA system supplied shamisen music and amplified the master's commentary, commands and cajoling of the lone monkey.

Mid-morning we had crossed into Shiga on route 533 and the hamlet of Arihara in Makino township and while descending toward the lake basin on the winding mountain road, we slowed to let a monkey cross the road. We could see 4-5 adults already on the other side, 2 or 3 of them with pint-sized babies clutching the fur and riding on the back of the hips of an adult. So now to see a grown monkey separated from his or her group was sad. And after hiking about the mountain top and returning to the venue, we could see a repeat of the earlier routines. To think of this performance daily, or maybe just weekends, I could only think it must be hard to keep it fresh or healthy - both for the man and for the monkey. No collection box was immediately visible, so maybe the 1800 yen gondola ticket partly paid the performer.

I wanted to make cupcakes and with the help of voice recognition technology there was a quick and easy way to make them without having any previous knowledge. Just an easy voice command of “Alexa get me a cupcake recipe” and I was able to get exactly what I needed. Alexa, thank you for helping me around the kitchen!

So, I love the railroad tracks! You'll prolly see them appear a few more times in this 365 project of mine. It was BEAUTIFUL outside today so I went hawk hunting. The area I live in has tons of hawks, in fact the high school my son attends uses the hawk as it's mascot. I keep trying to get some pics of these amazing and beautiful birds but they are elusive!!

No luck again today...my hawk timing seems off. Then I thought I should at least get a fun 365 pic so I set my cam on the tracks and ran back and forth a few times to get these. Then I got smart and asked my voice command remote to push the durn button because I was getting out of breath. My 365 timing was funny too...then wind kept blowing my hair into my face.

All in all, a fun one to shoot!

So come on down for a test drive we're located at 175 Pelham Street in Methuen make sure you ask for me, Ben I'll give you a great deal.

The pain was excruciating and unbearable. I had to get out! I couldn't just wait in agony waiting for the Coat to return and pump me full of god knows what! I stumbled towards a wall of the cell, hoping this new found strength was stronger then I thought. I took a swing at the wall and it crumbled to the ground. I stood up straight trying to hold down the pain. I strode out showing only the slightest pain on my face. I skittered through the complex warily. I slammed through another wall and found myself in a room with two swords made of metal I had never seen before and a suit of armour amongst strange machines.

"Stop acting all painless and let those feelings flow through you, let your screams be heard!" I voice echoed through the room.

"Who the hell are you!" I screamed and then let out a shriek of pain with that outburst.

"I am White Coat and you are my subject. The suit of armour before you shall subdue the pain with the eltromagnetic current that travels through it will deactivate the serum I got Toxic to combine you with. If you put this armour on you will be mine! Do you understand!" The voice Commanded.

"And if I don't want to work for you?" I spat.

"Then you will live a life of everlasting suffering" The voice said simply. I stared at the suit and let another burst of pain erupt through my veins. I swear any minute that my skin will tear itself apart.

"Fine!" I yelled grabbing the armour, finding the needles that trailed along the spine.

"Mecharon, enter!" The voice said. A huge brute of a man walked into the room and huffed. He grabbed me and shoved me on the table, the swords clattering to the ground.

"Subject has been animated with Cyntro 18C16, Suit will stop pain from appearing."

"Objective, apply armour to subject." The Cyborg said.

"This will sting a little" White Coat laughed.

My screams flew through every inch of the room and vibrated amongst every area inside.

It hurt.

This is the 18" voice activated Dalek (aka Dalek Non) in action, shown in voice command mode. My video skills are still poor, but I suppose that may change with time.

Interior of our new baby car... Buying a Mini involves a lengthy process of 'personalisation'. Almost everything inside can be changed. We added the red trim on the dash and the door handles but shied away from a red steering wheel! Pity there was no red carpet though... We did get the steering wheel with the remote controls and the gearbox paddles. These work very well, and the Aisin 'box is a little beauty. We also got the Nav-pack, which is a direct transplant of BMW tech, including the 'mini joystick', just between the gear lever and the handbrake. Not surprisingly it is the iDrive system incognito; 'toggle, press and twist' (and shout! - Good thing we didn't buy the voice command option). It even draws the transponder map when you reverse, courtesy of Bayerisches technik.

The new Mini now has the cool start button, but the best 'button' is the 'sport' button, just in front of the gear lever, together with the 'DSC off' ('fun' on) button. In sport, the EPAS steering becomes super tight, the accelerator reacts to the slightest touch and the gear box runs even tighter, and it even down shifts to engine brake in auto mode... Switch DSC off and you're laughing... (until you cry!) It's absolutely amazing how much tech they can stuff into this little car. The headlights come on automatically, the wipers do their own thing, even the rearview mirror dims when some dimwit drives behind you on full beam, the tyres are runflats with a pressure sensor... you almost forget to drive...

Christopher Byrne, the "TOY GUY" reveals his picks for last minute gift ideas.

Going crazy trying to decide what to get those special kiddos? Don't freak out, Knowledge is power! In this clip Chris demos some of his favorite toys including Honey my Baby Pony, EA Sports Voice Command Quarterback, G.I. JOE Cobra Night Raven Vehicle, The Girl Gourmet Cake Bakery, Splashy the Whale Game, and the tasty treats you can cook up from EZ 2 Make like Mrs. Fields Cookies, Jamba Juice Smoothie and Ice Pop Maker, Jolly Rancher Gummy Pops, ICEE Instant! Slushy Maker and Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza!!

Christopher Byrne has more than 25 years experience in the toy industry and for the past 15 years, has been at the forefront of identifying trends and hot products.

I have no idea how old this dog was, but his name was 'Buddy' - the dog tag said so. Most of this mutt's teeth were stubs, probably from constantly retrieving the rocks we'd throw for him. He was everyone's friend, just wandering the barracks area and sleeping in whomever's room would allow him. He loved to hang around the USO building for scraps from people's meals. He could entertain us with two voice commands. The first would be for someone to prompt him with , "Buddy, MOJACK" - an undeserved slang term for the local Icelandics - to which he would start growling and barking. The other was "Buddy, FISH" - and he would start yelping and yowling, pawing at the ground (he LOVED the fish fries at the USO every Friday evening).

That was 1978 - I hope he's resting peacefully.

Squirrels make Basil's blood boil! He will chase them up trees and then stand under the tree barking and jumping up the tree trying to get at them. He also becomes completely deaf when he sees a squirrel - no voice command to be heard.

Once, he jumped so high that he caught a low-flying bird mid air.

Now, if I could only teach him to jump this high on command...

For Flickr Group Roulette: Anything goes, 365 or less oh, and also: congratulations Maitexu on finishing your 365!!! I'm so sorry that I didn't get to know you better. Since I am kind of a newbie still - just on day 35. You are very creative and I've enjoyed looking at all your pictures. You should be proud!!

In early September 2019 the first shipments of the long awaited Tesla Model 3 autonomous electric vehicle began arriving in Australia.

All Tesla cars come standard with auto pilot, full self-driving capability and driver assistance features such as emergency braking, collision warning and blind-spot monitoring.

With the next software update, the cars will recognise and respond on autopilot to speed signs, traffic lights and stop signs. A number of other autonomous features will also be available by the end of 2019.

This white Tesla 3 Performance, pictured above is my sons car. He picked it up in Sydney on September 28 2019. Apparently if he had not been there at the pre-arranged time the car would have been allocated to someone else and he would have gone back on the waiting list.

Today Boxing Day 2019 I had my first opportunity to drive this amazing vehicle. Apart from being whisper quiet the technology is unbelievable and the acceleration from 0 to 100km hour in 3.4 seconds is breathtaking.

The standard car with various options he had ordered was unavailable on the day so Tesla upgraded him free of charge to a Performance Long Range vehicle. His car had been ordered well over 3 years previous to the delivery and his great patience has been rewarded with an amazingly sleek and seriously impressive and in the end, upgraded vehicle.

The stylishly sleek low profile Standard Tesla Model 3 has a battery range of 460km (real life more like 350km), a top speed of 225kph and at 5.6 seconds 0 to 100km it has scary acceleration that throws you back hard against the seat.

The Standard Model 3 will retail for Au$67,900.

There are two other models being made available in Australia.

Long Range Standard (620km -233kph-4.6 seconds) (Au$85,900)

Performance (560km - 233kph-3.4 seconds) (Au$92,900)

When one gets into the car the first thing you notice, apart from the comfort of the seats and the sleek tinted glass roof, is the total simplicity of the dash. There is no instrumentation on the dashboard, just a large computer screen which literally does everything. It allows you to conveniently update the cars autonomous and standard driving mode software, make phone calls, use maps and play music. I'm not sure yet but its probably set up for voice command also.

Charging is carried out at Tesla's rapidly expanding network of Australian charging stations or at home through an adapted power point.

Recently I saw that the Tesla Model 3 has become the top selling car in the Netherlands.

It will be interesting to see how rapid its adoption will be in Australia given Australian's record as a world leader in transitioning to new technologies.

It will not be a surprise if the takeup is quite fast, despite our current federal governments best efforts to dampen down all enthusiasm for anything not powered by fossil fuels.

The Tesla Version 10 Update was released on 26th September 2019

Everyone knows that puppy teeth can shread apart human skin in seconds. So I have been trying to train Brady to play nice and on voice command to stop playing and give "kisses."

I want him to be a puppy and play around but at the same time respect the person he is playing with.

I think he is getting the hang of it.

From Edmunds (http://www.edmunds.com/ford/f150/2009/review.html) -

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options(continued)

Geared toward commercial use, the bare-bones XL comes with 17-inch steel wheels, vinyl seating, an AM/FM radio, air-conditioning and not much else. The STX is similarly equipped but adds body-colored bumpers and grille frame, sportier wheels, a cloth 40/20/40-split bench seat and an upgraded sound system with a CD player and an auxiliary audio jack.

The volume leader XLT features chrome exterior trim (including the grille), an upgraded cloth interior, cruise control and full power accessories. The FX4 (4WD) shares its color-keyed bumper and grille styling with the STX and also features a towing package, 18-inch wheels, underbody skid plates, retuned springs and heavy-duty shocks, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, bucket seats with center console, a six-way power driver seat and satellite radio.

The Lariat trim offers an upscale ambiance with two-tone paint, a silver mesh grille insert, brushed aluminum and wood interior highlights, leather upholstery, 10-way power driver and passenger seats, heated front seats, power-adjustable pedals, the Sync multifunction voice command system, automatic climate control and a trip computer. Like the Lariat, the King Ranch has two-tone paint and the fancy grille, but it adds western saddle-inspired leather upholstery, a six-CD changer and heated/cooled front seats.

Last week I decided to teach myself how to build spheres and contoured shapes (the football, Mork, and plenty of unphotographed tablescrap). Around 6:30 last night, I thought it would be cool to apply my new knowledge and build R2-D2. I thought it would be even cooler if I could take the model to my LUG meeting today. So, using a voice command R2-D2 as a reference, I sat down around just before 7PM and started building and didn’t stop until just after midnight when I had a 12.5” astro-mech droid sitting on my desk.

It’s not movie accurate, but its close enough for me this time around. Bear in mind that this is my VERY FIRST attempt at building anything like this. Given my self-imposed time constraints, available brick and lack of experience, I think it turned out pretty good. I may certainly revisit this project later on and take my time to get a much cooler little droid.

From The Car Connection (http://www.thecarconnection.com/review/1013201_2009-ford-flex) -

The 2009 Ford Flex outfits its passenger cabin with a glorious amount of electronic and commonsense features that are meant to set it miles apart from the current crop of crossovers.

Just in terms of electronics, Ford offers its SYNC system, which uses voice activation to command MP3 players, cell phones, and an optional navigation system; Sirius Satellite Radio with optional Travel Link services that provide traffic, weather, and other information on the go; Sony audio systems with 700 watts of power and surround sound; and a rearview camera for safety and visibility.

“In six-passenger versions,” Automobile reports, “a refrigerator will be offered between the second row captain's chairs. Driven by a compressor, it will cool seven 12-ounce cans or two 20-ounce bottles to forty-one degrees. Ford's capless fuel filler system will find its way down to the Flex, too, and ambient lighting will continue its sweep through the Ford family.”

Other key features will be the optional four-panel Vista Roof, and a hidden keyless entry pad that responds to a swipe of a finger like the Apple iPhone. “My only complaint thus far?” Edmunds says. “No telescoping steering wheel. That seems like an oversight in a segment this competitive.”

Edmunds also points out that with a base price of $28,995 before destination charges, the 2009 Ford Flex will be “more expensive than a 2008 Honda Pilot, about $1,000 cheaper than a base-level GMC Acadia and a bit more than a decently equipped Dodge Grand Caravan SXT minivan.” Add to this the all-wheel-drive system, voice-activated navigation, second-row captain's chairs, SYNC, upgraded Sony-branded stereo, rearview camera, and the Vista Roof, and you'll find your Flex nearing the $40,000 mark.

TheCarConnection.com adds that all three versions of the 2009 Ford Flex offer ample standard features. The Flex SE includes an AM/FM/CD player, 18-inch wheels, and three-row seating. The Flex SEL adds on some chrome exterior trim, a Sony audio system, and Sirius Satellite Radio. The 2009 Ford Flex Limited piles on features like a 110V power outlet, high-intensity discharge headlamps, a power tailgate, and Ford’s SYNC entertainment system, which uses voice commands to control MP3 players and Bluetooth to control cell phones.

Conclusion

The 2009 Ford Flex will be one of the best-equipped vehicles on the road, with a laundry list of high-tech options.

Dark Night Rendezvous

meet me,

you begged

beneath the great tree

where once

the garden grew

Be there

two hours before

the sunrise

with a single candle's flame

as my guide

despite my own desire

to stay home in bed

lost in warm safe slumber

I get up and go

the hour of night

was still as death

and every bit as quiet

even the crickets

held their breath

my cry rang flat

not even an echo

could pierce the silence

of this darkened night

I found the old tree

wrapped in deep shadows

against a cloudy

moonless sky

the darkest ink

could never be as black

as the heavens

endless above my head

thankfully the old table

was still there

damp and lifeless

wood now half rotted

nothing like the cheerful

picnic table of times

gone by

I lit my candle

and little streaks of hope

shone against the foreboding limbs

that stretched just overhead

the tiny flame flickered and jumped

but stayed true

like a needle through the dark

then at long last

I hear the distant sound

of hooves on cobblestone

then the horseman's deep voice

commands an end

to the dark silence,

a black carriage

with dual lights

parts the curtain of shadow

stopping just in front of me

I look back

one last time

at my candle still glowing

and see the red glare

on the bottom bark

of the great tree's massive limb

and for a moment

I think I smell

last spring's colorful flowers

it had become

such a lonely place

one I'd as soon forget

so I step up

into the waiting carriage

and sit silently next to

your waiting warmth

as the horseman's voice

booms once again

we are taken away

by creaking wheels

and clopping hooves

but soon the clatter

gives way to silence

with only the wind

to fill our ears

I feel us rise into the sky

that once was so dark and foreboding

it now opens before my eyes

stars fill the heavens

with magnificent glow

then at long last

I close my eyes

and take my rest

Darren Huston, global vice president of Microsoft's online and consumer business, believes consumers are in for the rides of their lives.

View on black using Fiveprime's Black Magic

Press release:

Microsoft makes big play for the South African consumer

Microsoft’s aggressive push into the consumer market has been given a further boost with the official launch of Windows Live Essentials 2011 -- a free suite of programs for photos, movies, instant messaging, e‑mail, blogging and family safety.

Live Essentials 2011 is the latest chapter in a veritable wave of consumer-facing software from Microsoft, which includes its Windows 7 operating system, the Office 2010 productivity suite, the Internet Explorer 9 browser, its Bing search engine, the upcoming Windows Phone 7 and Kinect, a gaming system controlled solely by gestures and voice commands.

Speaking at the launch in Johannesburg today, Darren Huston, the global vice-president of Microsoft’s consumer and online business, said today’s marketplace was being shaped by the consumer.

“Consumers have assumed control and they want to connect to more of what they love anytime, anywhere, on any device,” said Huston. “At Microsoft, we’re listening closely to understand consumer needs and their expectations for technology that is personal, relevant, and social.”

Windows Live Essentials was designed specifically to take full of Windows 7. It includes Windows Live Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, Messenger, Mail, Family Safety and Writer. New to this release is Windows Live Mesh, which allows users to automatically synch various devices across the internet. Consumers can download Windows Live Essentials 2011 by visiting www.explore.live.com.

At the launch, Huston sketched a vivid vision of a technology world in which consumers want experiences across all of their screens to be seamlessly connected, relevant to them and easy to navigate.

“They don’t want to think about technology, they want it to ‘just work’, no matter the time or place. But ease of use is not enough. Today, technology has to be more personal, more relevant and more social,” said Huston.

One of the main things people do on their PCs is communicating and sharing with the people in their lives. The new Windows Live Messenger now connects users to Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace and hundreds of other sites. Windows Live Photo Gallery and Movie Maker work seamlessly with Facebook, Flickr, YouTube and other popular photo/video sharing sites, while Windows Live Mail connects easily with Gmail, Yahoo! Mail and other popular email services.

Another highlight of the new suite is its ability to organise, create and share photos and movies. With Photo Fuse, users take multiple photos of the same subject and then combine the best parts into one perfect photo. With Windows Live Movie Maker, users take their favourite photos and easily turn them into movies to share with family and friends, complete with transitions, titles and captions.

Organising photos is even easier with facial recognition: once people are tagged, the program automatically searches the entire photo library for their faces.

The launch also saw sneak previews of Windows Phone 7 and a prototype of a Windows-powered slate device, which the company hopes to bring to market in 2011.

From mid-2011, Windows Live Essentials will also be available in five indigenous languages in South Africa: Tswana, Sotho, Zulu, Xhosa and Afrikaans.

"The way people organise, connect and share with each other is changing,” said Huston. “We designed the new Essentials to connect you and all you that’s important to you across your multiple PCs and devices, including the services you use every day so you can get more done with your photos, movies and friends.”

Apart from being whisper quiet the technology is unbelievable and the acceleration from 0 to 100km hour in 3.2 seconds is breathtaking.

Hi, I'm Amber with the Dan O'Brien Auto Group and today we're going to go over the standard features on the Ram 1500 Big Horn.

What comes standard on this Ram 1500 Big Horn, is considered optional with many other vehicles… Inside, you’ll enjoy push-button start. Controls at your fingertips on this beautiful leather-wrapped steering wheel include cruise control buttons, sound system controls, and tilt and telescope features.

Also find this Rotary Gear shifter with 4WD auto, 2WD, 4WD high, 4WD low, and Neutral. Manage the interior weather with front and rear climate control AC outlets, along with cupholders for passengers in the rear seats, seats which also fold up!

Integrated voice command with blue tooth help keep your attention on the road. More standard features include a roomy center console compartment, USB ports, and 12-volt charging ports. Also standard on this Ram Big Horn: dual exhausts, a locking tailgate, automatic headlamps, halogen quad headlamps, and front fog lamps.

When it comes to safety…Your peace of mind is our top of mind. That’s why the Ram 1500 has been designed with a frame that incorporates 98% high-strength steel and dozens of safety features.

The six standard airbags help provide high-level protection to vehicle occupants. In the event of a front-end collision, the front airbags feature adaptive venting technology, opening a vent within the airbag cushion that adapts to the occupant size and severity of the crash.

Other safety features include rain brake support, tire fill alert to keep you on the road, electronic roll mitigation and electronic stability control, voice activated phone controls on steering wheel, and a backup camera provides with eyes in the back of your head.
