An image taken during a trip to Mount Robson Provincial Park a few weeks ago. I ventured down onto the the Robson River adjacent to our campsite one evening as the sun began to set and found the pools of standing water next to the river nicely reflecting the sun lit mountain. This was the first truly exploratory trip I've had to Mt. Robson even though we've passed through the area many times in the past. We camped nearby a couple of summers ago but it was only for one night as we'd had some very overcast days and our RV batteries were nearly drained because of the lack of solar regeneration. This is such a beautiful area.

I’ve visited this spot about ½ dozen times over the last several years. Only recently discovering that the branches of this fallen tree has a brief period during the setting of the sun where it is illuminated against the shaded background gully. During this visit I was rewarded with pleasing skies which added to the mood of the scene from a couple of days ago.

Early in September I hiked up the scree slope of Cinnamon Ridge and into the hoodoos at the base of the ridge to capture the sunrise. The sunrise itself was not all that impressive owing to the weather at the time and the fact the sun was largely blocked by the higher terrain around me until much later, past the golden hour. While I was there, clouds started to form and the early whisps of cloud can be seen in this image. The rising sun nicely lit up this part of the ridge as it popped above the surrounding terrain, really highlighting the patterns and textures of the geology that makes up this ridge. The geology here makes this is a very interesting place and all within the City of Kamloops and on the edge of the Lac Du Bois Grasslands Protected Area.
