This was a very fun and interesting shoot. The locations that Kiki and I chose were by her school. It was cool to see the spots where she spends most of her free time. It was actually a very cloudy and somewhat rainy day so we had to move the shoot inside when it got bad. I hope you guys enjoy this set I put together.

A collaborative, visual project which encourages you to sign out a Visual Library Book and ‘Leave Your Mark’.
A Visual Library Book is whatever you want it to be, a sketchbook, a journal, a diary, a notepad.
You can ‘Leave Your Mark’ in whatever way you want, ranging from drawing, writing, sewing, adding photographs, markings, printing and sticking. How you make your marks is entirely up to you. All we ask is that you have fun with the different themes.
45 Visual Library Books have been placed in Portsmouth Central Library and each has its own theme ranging from; Portsmouth, My City, When I Open My Eyes, Whilst I Was Waiting, Love, What’s in My Pocket and Memories. The intention is for you to feel free to explore the Visual Library Books and choose a theme that you like.

Exposición 50 artistas- 50 obras

En el marco de los 50 años de ASEUISA, El Museo de Arte de El Salvador inaugurará en nuestras salas la exposición «50 artistas- 50 obras en la colección del Museo de Arte de El Salvador»
Para esta exposición se han retomado constantes de expresión en el arte salvadoreño, como la representación de la figura humana, el bodegón, el paisaje y también la ausencia de referentes de la realidad circundante, bajo las influencias del Informalismo y del Abstraccionismo.
La representación de la figura humana ocupa la atención de los artistas durante diversos períodos, por ejemplo, en las primeras décadas del siglo XX, el protagonista de la escena pictórica es el poblador rural en sus actividades cotidianas. Los retratos son frecuentes, pero en algunas representaciones se incluyen estos con significados totalmente diferentes. La figura humana también ha sido el medio para expresar las intenciones sociales o los anhelos espirituales de los artistas. La manera de representación de estas figuras revela también un amplio espectro pues puede moverse entre el fuerte realismo y las formas esenciales y elementales.
El bodegón o naturaleza muerta también ha sido un medio para expresar otros contenidos y situaciones históricas inclusive, revelando también significados o intenciones muy particulares de sus creadores y apartándose de la representación tradicional de esta temática. Dentro del paisaje, ampliamente desarrollado dentro de la pintura salvadoreña, destaca la intención del resaltar la profusa vegetación del trópico, con las diversas tonalidades del verde como principal atractivo. También se destacan elementos del entorno como el agua, la arquitectura, así como la característica volcánica del territorio con significados diversos. El paisaje ha tendido también a la abstracción y las influencias de ésta llegan hasta la ausencia de elementos del entorno o de la realidad en la representación. Lo anterior se ha dado también en las obras tridimensionales.
Aunque la mayor parte de las obras seleccionadas de la colección del Museo de Arte de El Salvador son pinturas, en esta muestra se ha dado cabida también a la escultura, a través de cuatro piezas que comparten varios aspectos con las obras bidimensionales. Se ha tratado de encontrar relaciones y asociaciones en cuanto al tratamiento de los temas. Algunas veces son similitudes en cuanto a formas o al aspecto cromático, pero en otros casos también se muestran los contrastes en cuanto a la manera como dos artistas abordan determinada temática. Las secuencias de las obras no corresponden estrictamente a una línea cronológica, si no que responde más a como se comportan visualmente e interactúan unas obras con otras.

General Description:
The two storey Czechoslovakia Pavilion consisted of two buildings linked by an entrance hall. A simple, clear architectural strategy provided a harmonious backdrop for the exhibition's exciting displays. The first building featured two levels of exhibition space with a central courtyard which drew some of the largest crowds at Expo. Czechoslovakian art, technology and industry were presented to visitors through an attractive mixture of light, sound and video. The Hall of Centuries exhibit showcased texts and artifacts from ancient royalty. In the Hall of Tradition, visitors could find old and new glass and crystal and learn about their manufacturing processes. The World of Children enchanted the pavilion's younger visitors featuring puppet shows performing traditional tales. The second building featured four restaurants; Le Bistro served light snacks; the Bratislava Inn was a wine tavern; the Castle Restaurant featured fine Czechoslovakian cuisine; and the Prague was home to the famous pilsener Urquell beer. Offices, a gift shop and a theatre could also be found in this second Czechoslovakian building.

Synesthesia in art:
Sometimes defined as the simultaneous perception of multiple stimuli in one gestalt experience.
This ring has been nothing less than 'synesthetic' to me from it's very inception. When I looked at a piece of brass wire I had just hammered and worked into whimsical curves, I heard jazz (in my imagination, anyway).
A magenta square from a recycled vintage earring with scroll-like flourishes, burgundy Swarovski Crystals, and a tear-shaped freshwater pearl, scatter all over the curved brass wire like bursts of jubilant noise.
This ring is a size 6.
Not the case in any of it's interpretations....
Not that I'm not proud, I was always proud to be "a Normal..."
This one may be pushing the visual metaphor label, but it too carries so much meaning for me.
