BEN Namibia provided tandem bicycles to the Moreson School for the visually impaired. The bicycles are ridden by volunteers from Moses Garoeb Youth Club, with visually impaired learners riding on the back as 'stokers'. Learners get exercise and mobility which increases their confidence. Bicycles for this project were donated by Bikes for the World. Santa Rosa Sunrise Rotary Club of California, USA sponsored the cost of shipping, refurbishment, helmets and ongoing maintenance.

Items on display at the “Multisensory Exhibition for the Blind and Visually Impaired Persons” that shows how visually impaired persons experience artwork via tactile plates and audio guides.
Curated by art historian and art educator Nataša Jovičić and the Modern Gallery, Zagreb, Croatia, the exhibition also sensitizes others to how people living with limited vision experience the world.
The exhibition was held on the sidelines of the Assemblies of WIPO Member States, which met from September 24 to October 2, 2018. WIPO co-organized the event with the government of Croatia.

The South Carolina State Library is pleased to host a free workshop on the Great American Eclipse 2017. This interactive and hands on training is specifically designed for visually impaired individuals and those who work with visually impaired populations, including special education teachers, early childhood specialists, teacher aides, paraprofessionals, tutors, counselors, and those in higher education.
Join us on July 26 to learn more about the historical event taking place on August 21, 2017 as a total solar eclipse sweeps across the entire United States, from Oregon to South Carolina.
Attendees will gain knowledge on the uniqueness of this eclipse, why eclipses occur, cultural connections, history, and safe viewing techniques. Discussion topics include NASA, solar systems, gravity, distance and scale, and geometry. All participants will receive a tactile book, digital materials and training resources. This workshop is free, however, registration is required to ensure seat availability.
The workshop instructors are Cynthia Hall, from the Lowcountry Hall of Science and Math (LHSM) and Dr. Cassandra Runyon, from the SC NASA Space Grant Consortium. This workshop is specifically designed for visually impaired individuals and professionals who work with this population and is designed as an educational program based in science, specifically astronomy and geology. Mariah, a visually impaired student at the College of Charleston, is also assisting with this workshop. Service dogs are welcome!
Cynthia Hall serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Geology and is Director of the Lowcountry Hall of Science and Math, the education arm of the School of Science and Math at the College of Charleston. She teaches courses in Environmental Geology, Earth System Science for Teachers, and Marine and Coastal Science for Teachers. Through the Hall, she serves as a critical bridge between science and math faculty and educators in the region, as well as, develops and implements STEM professional development opportunities for educators and designs and develops curricula using effective pedagogical strategies and focusing on STEM-related content.

The results are very gratifying indeed! visually very astounding for me personally.
When i finished preparing the "La crème aux petals de roses", I couldnt help but to scoop a dollop of it from the whisk into my mouth. Admittingly, the intensity of the sweetness came as a rather rude shock.. I was quite apprehensive about the concoction and re-read PH 10's recipe entry and re-calculated everything on my ingredients list to make sure that I'd not wrongly "downsized" anything. But everything seemed to be in the prescribed proportions.
I went on with the assemblage anyway, after keeping the cream in the fridge for a few hours to make it firmer. And necessarily, I plunged a dessert fork down the shell and took one ceremonious bite. The results are quite the opposite to what I'd experienced earlier. The tartness of the raspberry which was to an almost astringent level was delicately balanced by the sweetness of the rose buttercream, one seemingly aiming at taming the other! On top of that, the aroma of the rose essence elevated amongst the other flavours and envelops the whole buccal and nasal cavity. The moment was rather magical, I might say.
Pierre Hermé is indeed a genius! Not only is he a patissier held with the highest esteem, he is also an architect of flavours and textures in his own right!

The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association is a British charity that breeds, trains and provide guide dogs for blind and severely visually impaired persons as well as advocating for the rights of visually impaired people. The Association is also actively involved in scientific canine and ophthalmic research that benefits its work. All the Association’s funding comes from voluntary donations.
The Guide Dogs was founded in 1931 and currently employs around 1,000 professional staff and some 14,000 volunteers whose work supports over 5,000 ‘active dog owners’ in the UK (as at 2016).
The work of the Association is encapsulated in their Vision, Purpose and Values statement:
• “Our vision is for a society in which people who are blind and partially sighted enjoy the same freedom of movement as everyone else.
• Our purpose is to deliver the guide dog service and other mobility services; to break down legal and physical barriers; and to enable people who are blind and partially sighted to get around on their own.

Visually, this image seems simple on the surface. It's when you look deeper where you see what I mean when I say that it is complex. First of all, there is a lot of foot prints in the sand. These are from many different people, most of which will never meet each other. Secondly, each grain of sand also makes it complex. You can see the way each person moved in the game of volleyball. I sharpened this one quite a bit, wanting to showcase every foot print in the sand. Barnbaum once said "It is rare that the scene-and the lighting on it- gives exactly what you envisioned for the print. You may want to brighten one area or darken others."

2014 saw a number of anniversaries which will help us tell this story. It's been 60 years since the creation of the iconic Routemaster, 75 years since the launch of the RT-Type bus and 100 years since the world's first mass-produced motor bus, the B-Type 'Battle Bus' that carried soldiers to the frontline during the First World War.
Our buses are the arteries of the capital, moving large numbers of people around the city - across the centre and to the extremities. They have affected great social change and continue to offer a lifeline to a diverse range of Londoners. Buses also support the needs of our growing city and in turn help London to function as the engine room of the UK's economy.
London is naturally proud of its bus network, one of the largest and most accessible in the world. Despite its size, the bus network remains flexible and able to adapt to the challenges of operating in a constantly changing streetscape.
To meet the future needs of the city, while minimising the environmental impact, we are using innovation and new green technology. Our fleet is already one of the cleanest in the UK, but we're constantly striving to see how new technology can further reduce our impact on the environment.
The bus sculptures, which are 2.5m long, 1m high and 0.5m wide, are painted and adorned by well-known and aspiring artists to showcase the vital role that London’s buses play in the life and economy of the city and the UK as a whole.
Londoners and visitors to the city will get the chance to discover the bus sculptures, which will be organised in clusters, on foot by following public art trails in four areas of the capital – three in central London and one in outer London.

These visionaries created the TEE Tournament, an acronym standing for TRAINING, EXPOSURE and EXPERIENCE. In 2008, it became one of six VA national rehabilitation programs for Veterans. The event expanded to include not only blind Veterans, but amputees, wheelchairbound Veterans, and those with other life changing disabilities. It takes place each year in Iowa City.

Visually inspired by the Ride Armors of Genesis Climber: Mospeada, this design was built for the BioCup 2024 as a phantoka-style “adaptive armor” but for a space environment.

The design of the house takes cues from traditional Victorian studio houses in London. The massing is arranged to establish a freestanding floating box with a stepped connection to the adjoining property, which not only separates the house visually but also responds to the adjoining terrace of Victorian houses. The design also explores ideas of privacy. As large areas of glass are part of the studio house aesthetic, front and rear screens were developed to reduce overlooking from neighbouring windows during the day. Unlike surrounding houses this property has very little garden area. What garden is available is divided into one public and one private courtyard at the front, and a private courtyard at the rear. To increase the outdoor space balconies and terraces are provided at first and second floor levels. The interior of the house is largely open-plan. A protected escape route has been achieved through the use of discrete fire resisting pivot doors recessed into the walls and held open with electromagnets. These electromagnets release the doors in the event of a fire. SustainabilityThe house is of steel frame construction, built upon a reinforced concrete ground floor and basement structure. Concrete block infill form the walls and FSC sustainably sourced timber joists form the roof and upper floors.The roof and terraces are clad with insulation and an environmentally friendly single ply waterproof membrane. The thermally broken aluminum framed double-glazed units are filled with krypton gas. The external block walls are clad with insulation and a thin-coat self-cleaning through-coloured silicon render. The ‘U’ or thermal insulation values of each of these construction elements is approximately 40% greater than the values required by Building Regulations. Placing the insulation on the outside of the concrete block provides the interior of the house with a high thermal mass. By absorbing and releasing heat the thermal mass moderates the internal temperature, averaging out day/ night extremes thereby increasing comfort and reducing energy costs.The house has a 'wet' under-floor heating system and the hot water is provided by an unvented hot water cylinder. Both of these are pre-heated by a ground source heat pump which extracts heat from the earth via three 60m deep boreholes beneath the house. The heat extracted from the ground provides 75% of the energy needed to heat the house and hot water. Using an unvented hot water cylinder avoids the requirement for electric pumps for showers and the associated energy use. Apart from providing privacy, the screens at the front and rear of the house reduce solar heat gain during the summer months when the sun is at its highest. Further control of solar heat gain is achieved through the use of vertical Venetian blinds which can be angled to allow daylight but block any direct sunlight. During the winter months when the sun is at a lower angle, sunlight is able to penetrate the screens thereby taking advantage of solar heat gain. Photovoltaic solar panels are installed on the flat roof. Subject to weather conditions the system can provide over two thousand kilowatt hours or units of electricity per year, a savings of one ton of carbon annually. Rainwater is harvested from the main roof and stored in a tank on the second floor terrace and is used to irrigate the planters, garden and bin store green roof.

"The visually exposed Empire house from 1818 includes older structures, the stone cellars are probably medieval.
A terraced one-storey house with a basement in a corner position stands on the main square in the centre of the historic centre of the city. It has a rectangular ground plan, a mansard roof with small dormers, two roof ridges run perpendicular to the facade – a hipped roof adjoins the neighbouring house. The roofs are covered with eternit on the outside, and with burnt grooved tiles on the inside. The southern facade to TG Masaryk Square has 5 window axes on the first floor, on the ground floor on the left a window, a glazed entrance to the pharmacy, a window, a passage gate and a glazed display window with an entrance to the shop. The entrance to the passage is vaulted with a compressed arch, flanked by a profiled cornice with a vault and emphasised by half-columns carrying straight entablatures. The other openings on the ground floor are rectangular, flanked by cornices. The ground floor is divided by a bossage, separated from the first floor by a cordon cornice. The floor is divided by fluted pilasters with volute capitals between each window. Under the crown cornice with dentil is a strip with plastic decor, around the windows there are profiled chambranes with ears, window and window sill cornices and plastic decor in the parapet fillings and suprafenestras (festoons, floral curtains, ribbons). The side facade to Pernštýnské Square is designed similarly to the front facade with a bossage on the ground floor and pilasters on the floor, 3 windows on the left side of the facade have a semicircular raised window cornice, 4 windows on the right are distinguished by pilasters on each side of the window (i.e. there are two pilasters between the windows). On the ground floor there is a window on the left and a rectangular entrance to the house, from it to the right there are 4 window axes, windows without chambranes. The narrow courtyard facade is smooth, on the ground floor there is a passage opening vaulted with a compressed arch and a window, on the first floor there are 2 semicircular arched windows. The passage is vaulted with Czech flats into the waists. There are vaults in both shops - mainly barrel vaults, then barrel vaults with sectors, barrel segmental vaults, barrel vaults into traverses and a Prussian vault. A straight staircase vaulted with a compressed barrel vault leads from the passage to the first floor. On the first floor there are flat-ceilinged rooms, some with fabions, the layout has been subsequently modified. The cellars are dissected, barrel vaulted, made of stone, others of brick masonry. The roof is traditional wooden, with hambálky and a standing stool, under the wooden floor of the attic there is a mezzanine that used to be used for storage.

"Prostějov (Czech pronunciation: [ˈproscɛjof]; German: Proßnitz, Yiddish: פראסטיץ Prostitz) is a city in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 44,000 inhabitants. Today the city is known for its fashion industry and AČR special forces unit 601. skss based there. The centre of the town is historically significant and is protected by law as urban monument zone.
The first historical mention of the village Prostějovice is from 1141. By the middle of the 13th century, it had developed into an important market village. At that time, German settlers were invited here, who established a new settlement on the site of today's TG Masaryk Square, to which the rights of the original settlement were transferred. On March 27, 1390, Prostějov was granted the right of the annual market thanks to the lords of Kravaře, which in fact became a town. In the Hussite period, the promising development slowed down as the city suffered delays on both sides; the insufficiently fortified Prostějov became easy prey for the troops of Margrave Albrecht and was burned down in 1431. The prosperity of the city was brought about by the establishment of the Jewish city and especially after a year 1490 more than a century-old government of the Pernštejn families, whose property became the town. In 1495, the city began the construction of stone walls with four gates with bastions. Between 1521 and 1538, the townspeople built a Renaissance town hall.
At the end of the 16th century, the city became the property of the Liechtensteins, which resulted in the stagnation of the city's development. In Prostejov the year 1527 printer Kaspar Aorga printed the first book on Moravia. During the Thirty Years' War, the town was devastated and in 1697 a fire broke out, killing the town hall, the school and the church. Then the city began to acquire a Baroque character. Around the middle of the 17th century, mainly thanks to local Jews, the food, textile and clothing industries developed rapidly, and in 1858 the first Czech ready-to-wear clothing industry was founded in Prostějov - the factory of the Mandla brothers, which attracted new inhabitants. In the 1960s, Prostějov was connected by rail with Brno and Olomouc. The 19th and 20th centuries changed the face of the city in the style of historicism and Art Nouveau. Since the 20s and especially 30s, dominating the construction becoming in Prostejov functionalism.

The medieval and early modern Margraviate of Moravia was a crown land of the Lands of the Bohemian Crown from 1348 to 1918, an imperial state of the Holy Roman Empire from 1004 to 1806, a crown land of the Austrian Empire from 1804 to 1867, and a part of Austria-Hungary from 1867 to 1918. Moravia was one of the five lands of Czechoslovakia founded in 1918. In 1928 it was merged with Czech Silesia, and then dissolved in 1948 during the abolition of the land system following the communist coup d'état.
Its area of 22,623.41 km2 is home to about 3.2 million of the Czech Republic's 10.8 million inhabitants. The people are historically named Moravians, a subgroup of Czechs, the other group being called Bohemians. The land takes its name from the Morava river, which runs from its north to south, being its principal watercourse. Moravia's largest city and historical capital is Brno. Before being sacked by the Swedish army during the Thirty Years' War, Olomouc served as the Moravian capital, and it is still the seat of the Archdiocese of Olomouc. Summer 2019 I did a solo cycling tour across Europe through 12 countries over the course of 3 months. I began my adventure in Edinburgh, Scotland and finished in Florence, Italy cycling 8,816 km. During my trip I took 47,000 photos.

With the help of JAWS software , those visually challenged people are learning computer software and using computer as a tool to learn various other things... They used to check their gmail , surf internet, read news websites, create power point presentation on Shakespeare etc and so on...

Angkor Wat is visually, architecturally and artistically breathtaking. It is a massive three-tiered pyramid crowned by five lotus-like towers rising 65 meters from ground level. Angkor Wat is the centerpiece of any visit to the temples of Angkor.
At the apex of Khmer political and military dominance in the region, Suryavarman II constructed Angkor Wat in the form of a massive 'temple-mountain' dedicated to the Hindu god, Vishnu. It served as his state temple, though the temple’s uncommon westward orientation has led some to suggest that it was constructed as Suryavarman II’s funerary temple. Other temples of the same style and period include Thommanon, Banteay Samre, Wat Atwea and Beng Melea, which may have served as a prototype to Angkor Wat.
Angkor Wat is surrounded by a moat and an exterior wall measuring 1300 meters x 1500 meters. The temple itself is 1 km square and consists of three levels surmounted by a central tower. The walls of the temple are covered inside and out with bas-reliefs and carvings. Nearly 2000 distinctively rendered apsara carvings adorn the walls throughout the temple and represent some of the finest examples of apsara carvings in Angkorian era art. But it is the exterior walls of the lower level that display the most extraordinary bas-reliefs, depicting stories and characters from Hindu mythology and the historical wars of Suryavarman II. It is in the viewing of the bas-reliefs that a tour guide can be very helpful.
The northern reflecting pool in front is the most popular sunrise location. For sunrise, arrive very early, well before sunrise begins. The sun will rise behind Angkor Wat providing a silhouette of Angkor’s distinctively shaped towers against a colored sunrise sky. Some of the best colors appear just before the sun breaks over the horizon.
The visual impact of Angkor Wat, particularly on one's first visit, is awesome. As you pass through the outer gate and get your first glimpse, its size and architecture make it appear two dimensional, like a giant postcard photo against the sky. After you cross through the gate and approach the temple along the walkway it slowly gains depth and complexity. To maximize this effect you should make your first visit in optimal lighting conditions, i.e. after 2:00PM. Do not make your first visit to Angkor Wat in the morning when the backlighting obscures the view.
The first level of is the most artistically interesting. Most visitors begin their exploration with the bas-reliefs that cover the exterior wall of the first level, following the bas-reliefs counterclockwise around the temple. Bas-relief highlights include the mythological Battle of Kuru on the west wall; the historical march of the army of Suryavarman II, builder of Angkor Wat, against the Cham, followed by scenes from Heaven and Hell on the south wall; and the classic ‘Churning of the Ocean Milk’ on the east wall.
The temple interior is not as densely carved as the first level exterior, but still sports hundreds of fine carvings of apsaras and scenes from Hindu mythology. A guide can be quite helpful in explaining the stories of the various chambers, statues and architectural forms to be found in the interior. At the upper-most of your tour of the temple, the central tower on the third level houses four Buddha images, each facing a different cardinal point, highlighting the fact that though Angkor Wat was constructed as a Hindu temple, it has served as a Buddhist temple since Buddhism became Cambodia’s dominant religion in the 14th century. Some say that it is good luck to pay homage to all four Buddha images before departing Angkor.

Item on display at the “Multisensory Exhibition for the Blind and Visually Impaired Persons” that shows how visually impaired persons experience artwork via tactile plates and audio guides.
Curated by art historian and art educator Nataša Jovičić and the Modern Gallery, Zagreb, Croatia, the exhibition also sensitizes others to how people living with limited vision experience the world.
The exhibition was held on the sidelines of the Assemblies of WIPO Member States, which met from September 24 to October 2, 2018. WIPO co-organized the event with the government of Croatia.

These series of photos were taken 28 Sept 2023, the day before the official opening of the fair. People were busy making final adjustments to rides, checking electrics, stock of foods, drinks, gifts and so on.
The Nottingham Goose Fair is an annual travelling funfair held at the Forest Recreation Ground here in Nottingham. This year, 2023, it runs for 10 days, usually it's 3 days.

Around Anzac Day, April 25th, each year Sea Mullet (Mugil cephalus) begin to stream out of the coastal rivers, lakes and estuaries of the NSW east coast and head en mass to sea to spawn.
This movement out of the estuaries by millions of Sea Mullet has become known as the 'Mullet Run'
After spawning in the open sea the eggs are washed back into the estuaries where the cycle begins again. In the protected environment of the estuaries the eggs soon become fingerlings and grow and eventually into adults at which time they will also leave the rivers and lakes and head to sea to spawn.
It is thought that the first biting cold offshore westerly winds, which seasonally begin around 25th April, are the catalyst for the commencement of the migration to sea.
The predictability of the 'Mullet Run' is bad news for the mullet as commercial Fishers have their measure.
Spotters on top of headlands visually spot the moving masses of fish as they head north up the coast to warmer waters to spawn.
The spotter sends a message to the commercial fishers on the beach who are ready to spring into action with their 'Haul Netting' or Beach Seining' gear as soon as the massive schools of mullet arrive in the vicinity of the beach.
The fishers wait till the precise moment to pounce, at which time a boat is launched from the beach, on the northern side of the direction of travel of the fish. The boat quickly speeds out through the surf zone towing a Seine Net behind it with the plan to encircle the school of fish by turning to the south then when the fish are encircled, driving hard up onto the beach,
The large team of fishers work hard to pull the net around the school manually and when this is done they attach a rope to the tow end of the net and both ends of the net are tied to the tow ball of a powerful 4 x 4 or tractor and hauled up onto the beach.
Once the entire school has been captured and laying on the beach in the nets the fishermen begin the big job of sorting the fish, returning any fish not considered of the legal 30cm or 12'' size back to the sea. The fish are then packed in boxes and put on ice and taken to the local fish cooperative where they are prepared for market. Almost every part of each mullet from the roe to the scales is able to be used commercially after any necessary preparations.
Witnessing the ruthless precision of the 'Haul Netting' harvesting operation is disturbing for some people however the commercial Sea Mullet Fishery and the harvesting practices used have been declared sustainable by a number of studies over the years.
