Hey Flickr friends! Join my group:
#345 Lets play a game:
- The one who tells me why I chose this color will earn 2 points.
- The one who tells me what this abstract is made of - in other words what I shot - will get another 3 points.
- Finally, the one who marks correctly (with a square note on the image) the point I set the focus on - it is a crossing, multiple marks possible - will be able to complete the 10 points adding another 5 points
The winner will be announced tomorrow night (Hamburg time) and will receive a +100 words appreciation of his last uploaded image;)

I chose to do a project for 2012 to improve my photography. The plan is to take pictures on as many days as possible and post a picture of 2012 each day.
This is kinda cool... this is a street chalk drawing but from this angle (which isn't truely perfect for the effect) you can sense a three dinensional effect... it kinda looks like a beer is actually being poured...
ok Labatt's where's my commission on this free advertisement for you? I'll take a free beer. :)

Avez-vous remarqué l'effet d'optique ? la hauteur droite de la photo paraît plus courte que la gauche.
Did you notice the visual effect? The right height of the photo seems shorter than the left.
Curved Folding Structure Of Conical Cylinder With Hexadecagon Base youtu.be/LZJtT1Lkexo
As a reference and inspiration to create and design these structures I can mention the following authors and their works based on curved fold:
David Huffman's
Ron Resch
Philip Chapman-Bell
Jun Mitani
Tomohiro Tachi
This photo is not edited or manipulated in anyway. I have seen this effect done before and I thought i would try it for myself. No, this is not mine, but it's bloody brilliant. Can you guess how I did it? (Without the obvious choice- looking up the answers)

“The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms” from Warner Bros. was produced by Jack Dietz and Hal E. Chester and directed by Eugène Lourié, and stars Paul Christian, Paula Raymond, Cecil Kellaway, and Kenneth Tobey. The film's stop-motion animation special effects are by Ray Harryhausen. Its screenplay is based on Ray Bradbury's 1951 short story “The Fog Horn,” specifically the scene where a lighthouse is destroyed by the beast.
The storyline concerns a fictional dinosaur, the Rhedosaurus, which is released from its frozen, hibernating state by an atomic bomb test in the Arctic Circle. The beast begins to wreak a path of destruction as it travels southward, eventually arriving at its ancient spawning grounds, which includes New York City.
The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms was one of the first atomic monster movies which helped inspire a generation of creature features.

"the one that's always with me"
On every shoot i bring at least this bag. it carries all the photo gear and basic survey gear and 2D tracking markers.
It has the added bonus of being legal carry-on size (sometimes international flights give me a hard time). This is always my carry-on.
also, in case of theft, or damage, i keep a list of all these items, their serial numbers and warranty info on a pdf on my phone, on my laptop and in the cloud so i can access from anywhere.
