The "Forgotten Songs", a public art installation which features a canopy of empty birdcages hanging in the sky.
The installation was undertaken as part of the Angel Place laneway upgrade.
You could hear the bird songs from the cages, it represents the sounds of Sydney's lost birds which may have inhabited in this area before the laneway upgrade.
on the tarmac, reality and reflection converge in a dance of motion and stillness. a plane, cradled in the golden arms of the terminal’s embrace, becomes an echo on the sunlit glass—a doppelgänger caught between takeoff and touchdown. hues of industry and azure blend above, where another craft, borne from the realms of digital alchemy, floats in the boundless canvas of the sky. here, in malpensa's gateway, stories unfold in whispers of winged chariots, ferrying dreams across the globe.

Have a beautiful Sunday!
I've never intentionally looked to shoot bokeh but Valentine's Day is a joyful and expressive occasion, which seems like a good time to give it a try.
This attempt was done with a set of battery operated Christmas LED lights pinned to a muslin background. An LED flashlight held overhead added a bit of extra light to the rose. I experimented with changing the distance from the lights to the rose and the aperture settings, to get the effect I wanted.
in any case, here's hoping that you get to spend a little time with the love of your life and without the many distractions that everyday life seems to throw at us. Cheers!

Pirelli Tower (Italian: Grattacielo Pirelli – also called "Pirellone", literally "Big Pirelli") is a 32-storey, 127 m skyscraper in Milan, Italy. The base of the building is 1,900 m², with a length of 75.5 m and a width of 20.5 m. The construction used approximately 30,000 m3 of concrete. The building weighs close to 70,000 t with a volume of 125,324 m³.
Characterized by a structural skeleton, curtain wall façades and tapered sides, it was among the first skyscrapers to abandon the customary block form. After its completion it was the tallest building in Italy but in 1961 Mole Antonelliana recovered priority after rebuilding of its pinnacle. The architectural historian Hasan-Uddin Khan praised it as "one of the most elegant tall buildings in the world" and as one of the "few tall European buildings that made statements that added to the vocabulary of the skyscraper".
The building inspired the Pan Am Building (now MetLife Building) in New York and the National Mutual West Plaza in Auckland.
Presentation is what it's all about sometimes, and Millennium Gold was the perfect subject to pull this off.

A small update of a previous version with a little bit more detail in the background.

Still very excited about this. Actually it's a speedpainting from scratch, without reference material. I just started with a very small thumbnail sized sketch on a piece of paper. With a couple of standard brushes I started to draw the contours on an empty canvas in Photoshop. Now that the composition is almost definite, I'd still like to add more detail.
But at least the 15 minutes of stage one became a very important eye opener for me. I realized that I'm being able to sculpt anything I want to from an empty canvas again, like I was being able to in my childhood years just with an old pencil or ballpoint and a piece of paper. Besides the art of sketching logos on paper, Ironically I seem to have lost pretty much of these drawing skills since I became a graphics designer. Anyway this quick and dirty draft probably is one of the most important artistic breakthrough I've had throughout this year.
Another nice thing that pops into mind is that my 4y old daughter seems to have inherited at least some of the artistic abilities. Like a lot of kids she's always drawing. In fact, when she noticed the bare contours of this digital painting she pretty much understood were I was going to. I also noticed that she'd never be down in the dumps during a long or even a very short car trip. I've never seen a kid sitting in a car for a few hours without being bored to death. No matter how often we went out by car during our vacation, she just took her pencils and a sketchbook and started to draw pretty much uninterruptedly, without paying attention to the beautiful rolling mountain scapes presented from all directions :)
For now I'm running out of time, but I'll continue to paint in more detail and keep close attention to the light and its direction. Of course I'll post the final result when it's been finished.
Anyway, thanks for viewing. Please keep in mind that this still hasn't been finished yet, but in the meantime I just wanted to share my excitement with you guys :P

This is Mat Irvine posing with K9. He had an uncredited role as the remote operator of K9 in many of the Doctor Who episodes during the Tom Baker era, and his most recent was the 2005 revived Doctor Who episode titled School Reunion. (Series 2, Episode 3.)
He was attending a fan convention called “London Film and Comic Con” at Earls Court, and here, I approached him and asked if I could have a photo of him, he agreed and posed with K9.

About K9.
K9 (occasionally written as K-9) is the name of various fictional robotic dogs used in the British sci-fi series Doctor Who. The meaning of K9 is a pun on the pronunciation of canine meaning dog.
K9’s first appearance was in The Invisible Enemy, Season 15 of the Classic era in 1977, during the Tom Baker’s Fourth Doctor era.
K9 was voiced by three actors, the most well-known being John Leeson, and operated by some special effects staff, with Mat Irvine being one of them.
