In the winter months gulls from the great lakes region are common along the Ohio river here in Marietta Ohio. I guess temps are milder and easier to endure here than in the great lakes region. It is a lot of fun photographing them in flight. Aside from their bad reputation as scavangers and oppertunists they are very graceful in flight.

Many WWII veterans were visiting the memorial today, a beautiful fall day in Washington D.C. Many can walk, but others can not. I don't know if he was a veteran, but he probably was.
A trip to "aspern Seestadt", a new district in the northeast of Vienna that was created on the drawing board. A water hole in the middle of the construction gives it its name. "aspern Seestadt" is often described as innovative and forward-looking - with the advertising message that "quality of life and economic power are combined here in a special place". The future will show whether these claims are actually true.
