This is a world famous highly stylized Indian Classical Dance Drama - known as the king of performing arts - performed in a Koothambalam (art performance temple) by skilled artists. The artists has to undergo several years of hard core training. This art is a skilful combination of literature (mainly based on the epics of India) music (vocal & instrumental), charming costumes, elaborate facial makeup (Chutti), acting & dancing. Each character’s mental quality can be understood by his/her costumes and facial makeup.

A virtuous lunch! To balance out a rather decadent dinner out last night complete with cocktail, salad with blue cheese, stinging nettle + ricotta ravioli with black trumpet mushrooms and parmesan -- the only vegetarian entree on the menu! Amazingly good but also, as we like to fondly say in my family, "fatty yum yums." This lunch is the opposite!

The Virtuous Woman Inc goal through our program Project Destiny is to spread awareness for the issue of of how sex trafficking affects our communities and how Project Destiny can help. We want to change the perception that a girl or boy on the streets is not there by choice. A more than likely scenario is that he or she is being forced into prostitution to bring money back to a pimp or predator that has helped them with a place to live, food and other necessities.

The Congham Kneelers
The 40 hassocks illustrate the Bible text from the Book of Proverbs Chapter 31. vs. 10 to the end and were designed in 1994 by Joan Ross. The designs were inspired by Norfolk country life and by parishioner Susan Gurney's (1915-1993) love of sewing.
The kneelers were made by members of the Embroiderers Guild, and of the West Norfolk Needleworkers and by Susan's friends and each one measures 9 x 12 x 3 ".
The stitches used were mostly tent stitch, long-legged cross stitch and knitting stitch on a 14 count canvas. A carefully selected colour scheme was chosen over the entire set but no. 20 was an exception as scarlet was required. Three strands of 2 ply wool were used, allowing for a mixing of shades, so that colours could be graded (as in the subtle sky of no.34).

Follow in Franzisca Baruch's footsteps.
Franzisca was a German Jewish virtuous Graphic designer and a typographer,a colleague and a friend of my grandfather the typographer Henri Friedlaender.
In the first years after she had moved to Jerusalem (Back in 1933),To earn a living she sold Marzipan cakes by her own special design under the brand name "Tufiney Baruch" (Baruch's Biscuits).
This project of Ronit Vered and mine is a homage to her work .
We had this project in our minds for a long time, and we waited patiently for the perfect timing-
On 20 October 2015 The Israel Museum, Jerusalem opened the exhibition "New Types: Three Pioneers of Hebrew Graphic Design," in collaboration with the German Literature Archive at Marbach and with the support of the Goethe Institute. The exhibition, curated by graphic designer Ada Wardi, will present the work of three groundbreaking designers, each an expert in his or her field: Dr. Moshe Spitzer ; Franzisca Baruch and Henri Friedlaender .

The virtuous young woman is rapt in the rosary prayer. While she is reminiscent of depictions of the Virgin Mary, the pearl studded band around her head, the rosary and the lack of a veil indicate that this must be a portrait. She is still so young that she may wear her hair down. The demure dress with covered décolleté was worn at home in Nuremberg.
