Arcade version of Puppy running on a VirtualBox VM; running the game "Thrust" on the Spectrum emulator.
Sandia computer scientists Ron Minnich (foreground) and Don Rudish have successfully run more than a million Linux kernels as virtual machines, an achievement that will allow cyber security researchers to more effectively observe behavior found in malicious botnets. They utilized Sandia's Thunderbird supercomputing cluster for the demonstration. (More information) Photo courtesy Sandia National Laboratories.
Installing updates in Solaris, while running Ubuntu Ultimate ... and a bunch of Mac applications on the background.
Sandia computer scientist Ron Minnich is seen with a Sandia testbed cluster known as Talon, consisting of the same servers that comprise the 4,480-node Thunderbird cluster in Albuquerque. In running more than a million Linux kernels as virtual machines, Minnich and his colleagues ran one kernel in each of 250 virtual machines and coupled those with the 4,480 physical machines on Thunderbird. The "heart" of a large Unix frame from IBM - FSP (Flexible Service Processor). This is the component (computer, actually) that runs the VMM and communicate with HMCs about the health of the frame. All frames of P5 and P6 class has 2 of them (active/passive configuration). Too bad that it takes an outage to replace a failed FSP. IBM promised that in future machines/frames, this "SPOF" (Single Point Of Failure) will be removed and a hot-swap type configuration for the FSP will be available.
Yeah, right... BTW, this runs a special version of Linux! Yeah, Linux *is* becoming King in the embedded device space!
It's turtles all the way down.
Damn Small Linux running under VMWare ESXi, running under VMWare Fusion; managed by the VMWare Infrastructure Client, itself running in Windows XP under another VMWare Fusion virtual machine, all on a system running OS X.

Network boot of vSphere 6 aka vSphere 2015 inside of an Oracle VM virtual machine.
I could change the NIC from the default Realtek to a e100 or similar if I was really interested in pursuing this.

"This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down." Yes, I saw the "illegal operation" even before my icons appeared. I died laughing, I admit. At least this is just a guest OS and not something I actually plan on constantly using.
