This photo was taken about 40 km South East East of the volcano that is currently wreaking havoc. It's my closest one from my trip there. It will have been 10 years ago in September, 2010.

This is an HDR picture of the cliff at vik beach and the cave beneath. Again the winter sun helped a lot
The black-sand beach at Vík í Mýrdal and the Reynisdrangar (basalt columns rising out of the sea) in the distance.
Basalt sea stacks situated under the mountain Reynisfjall near the village Vík í Mýrdal, southern Iceland which is framed by a black sand beach that was ranked in 1991 as one of the ten most beautiful non-tropical beaches in the world.
