I didn't go up the scaffolding viewpoint. I had a few health and safety concerns and a healthy fear of death. They are like comforting friends in these kinds of perilous situations.

The days on Lesbos started early for us. At least this gave me the opportunity to shoot some nice sunrises. We are here because refugee boats often came to the island in the early morning. I'm guessing this is because the Turkish coastguard is still sleeping and not (as) active. Boats crossing risk being stopped by the Turkish coastguard and brought back to Turkey. They are harassed, hosed with water, bumped into, to make them stop. On our viewpoint, all we can do is hope they make it across safely.

The information board read:
Gerokamina Viewpoint is located on the Platres - Troodos Road, 6km off Platres Village at an altitude of 1470m on the southern side of Mount Olympus and it overlooks Krios Potamos valley and Akrotiri Bay
Places of interest that can be seen are the salt lake of Akrotiri, the Capa Gata, the Cape Zevgari, the harbour of Limassol, the dam of Kourris, and a small part of Limassol Town.
The viewpoint is found within the common zone of Calebrian and the Black Pine, where as the altitude increases the Calabrian Pine gives its place to the Black Pine which dominates the highest peaks of the Troodos.

Did you know that 'official' depression day was this week? Not sure who decides these things but apparently one day was the 'official' most depressing day of the year - although sources seem to disagree which day it was! Anyway, I thought I'd put up a picture to remind us of summer!
This was taken between two meetings when I stopped for a quick lunch on the Southbourne Overcliff Drive. This is one of those shelters that we are so fond of that has seats facing in four different directions - the view to the right looks straight out to sea, the view to the left looks out onto the road. Which would you choose?!!!
