A single photo can communicate a mass of valuable information in seconds, hence the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words". Photos are integral to real estate marketing. Every listing has interior and exterior photos which enable buyers to quickly screen properties online but gaining a perspective of a neighbourhood, community and municipality is difficult from the ground. There's no better way to gain this perspective than from a 'birds eye' view using images taken at an 'oblique' angle to the ground from the air. So, on September 25, 2014, ViewPoint Realty, in partnership with Vision Air Services, took to the skies over HRM via helicopter with ace check pilot Fred Shuman and two photographers, Tim L'Esperance of Vision Air (also a pilot) and Sean McMullen, Director of Marketing and photographer at ViewPoint. We took more than 4,000 photos from altitudes ranging from 1,200 to 8,000 feet over the course of three hours. The weather was exceptional and we hope you agree that the resulting photos are too!

VIEWPOINT

Viewpoint is a site-specific architectural/video installation eleven feet high, eighteen feet wide and twenty feet deep that gives a free dose of sun, sea and sky to mall-goers. Located at the Phantom Galleries LA Long Beach at the Pike at Rainbow Harbor, the work was created using wall panels from a currently vacant retail space elsewhere in the Pike. The panels, which once hung clothes, have been reconfigured and reimagined as a deep space framing the sunset over Long Beach harbor. Converging in single-point perspective and lifted into a steep incline, the groove-cut panels create ever-reducing concentric frames, exaggerating the perceived depth. The video, playing on loop, was taken of the port from a point on axis with the current installation site.

About the Artists:
Daniel Lehrer-Graiwer was born in Los Angeles. After graduating from Columbia University, and living in New York, he packed his bags and set off to work for Ducati Motorcycles in Bologna, Italy. An artist and writer, he currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
Travis Frankel was born and raised in upstate New York, Frankel graduated from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in architecture. A designer, carpenter and artist, Frankel currently lives and works in Los Angeles.

The late king of Sikkim, Tashi Namgyal, has constructed the Tashi Viewpoint. It is located 4 km away from Gangtok, from where the visitors can get a perfect view of the opposite hills, besides mount Kanchenjunga. The snow range of Kanchenjunga could be seen on clear days. From this viewpoint, the visitors can easily see the Phodong Monastery and the Labrang Monastery on the opposite hill.
The new baby red squirrel Pepper (10-11 weeks old) used this old trunk as a viewpoint. When they are so young the head shape is quite plump - this usually changes when they get older (Squirrels-2019-0931.jpg)
