THE SHOT
This is the first time, that I am releasing a new image on 500px before all other platforms. This past summer, I had the opportunity to spend a few days for the first time in Manarola. I was out every night and every morning capturing this beautiful village. This 5 minute or 300 second exposure ended up being the most dramatic and best of them all. I was so excited to get this shot in. With the long exposure, sunset at the same time and a 10-stop B+W ND filter, this is what happened.
Post-processing was in Photoshop using luminosity masking techniques. There are free tutorials on my website, showing how I apply these techniques and a 2 1/2 hour video tutorial series, which I did with Tony Kuyper as my partner in crime explaining luminosity masks and blending techniques.

This 20 app for apple users is totally worth it! So far I've got great results and I wanted to share it with you guys! Check out the tutorial and how easy it is to clean up your night image.
I think I squeezed this set of images with a lot of flaws as I could with my modest equipment (DSLR and a Tecnosky 130 super apo triplet)
But finally this is the best picture of the pillars of creation that I could get (for now)

Magical night in Peñalara (Madrid) watching the meteor shower, the 2016 Perseids night.
Staring in the sky at a place like this, watching how every single minute meteors appear over your head is one of those experiences I will never forget.
The Photograph is a light stacking blending all the stars that appeared between 23:30 and 5:30 a.m. 6 hours of magic and wonder in equal parts.
The blending of the stars was made directly in Photoshop using luminosity masks as explained in this VIDEOTUTORIAL

Noche mágica en Peñalara (Madrid) viendo la lluvia de estrellas, la noche de las Perseidas del 2016. Hacer noche en un lugar así viendo como cada minuto aparecían meteoros encima de tu cabeza es una de esas experiencias que jamás olvidaré.
La fotografía es un light stacking de todas las estrellas que aparecieron entre las 23:30 y las 5:30 a.m. 6 horas de magia y asombro a partes iguales.
El blending de las estrellas se realizó directamente en photoshop usando máscaras de luminosidad tal y como explico en este VIDEOTUTORIAL.

Post processing video tutorials and TKPanel for Photoshop in German and English
There is a story attached to taking the image...After visiting the location and especially the rock formation in the background earlier on that day during low tide, I had to come back at sunset when the tide was coming back in to photograph this this section of the beach. I thought instantly that the leading lines would work well, but who would have expected such an awesome sunset?
The sideline of the small stream on which I stand is purely build of sand and probably not more than 20cm in height. Coming in from the other side, I managed my way over the stream fine. I set up my tripod and camera pretty close to the edge of the sandbank aiming for a better angle than from a higher up position. Just when I wanted to grab the tripod and head back over the river, the sand broke and André was in the water. Sure enough, I held the tripod and camera high above my head not caring about myself getting wet but my equipment wink emoticon. I stumbled back to the car with my headlamp on and dried myself up at home. I then returned to this location at 5am the next morning for a sunrise shooting and sure enough Mother Nature has repaired my flaw and the sandbank was back to its original state, as if nothing ever happened...nature never seems to amaze me.

Llevo desde el domingo liada con esto, a pesar de que...sí... es muy típico... "alguien quemándose"... pero es algo que no había hecho antes :P
Aunque la idea no es exactamente solo "alguien quemándose"...

HISTORIA DE ESTA FOTOGRAFIA
Sin duda alguna, si hay un lugar para que el ojo (y la cámara) disfrute del color, ese lugar es Burano. Una pequeña isla, cerca de Venecia (aprox 1 km). Perderse por sus calles/canales es una maravilla. En este caso un pequeño puente situado en un lugar estratégico para poder captar el atardecer sin problema, al lado un bonito lugar para tomarse un capuccino mientras se espera la llegada de la luz adecuada.
REVELADO
Imagen HDR, revelada con Lightroom y Photoshop.
Lightroom:
1) Preparación de las 3 tomas (-2EV, 0EV, +2EV) para HDR, ajustando ligeramente luces, sombras, blancos y negros, además de Corrección de la lente (aberraciones cromáticas, perfil de lente), eliminación de posibles manchas y ligero ajuste de ruido.
2) Sincronizar ajustes a las 3 fotos y combinarlas en Lightroom para HDR, con posterior ajuste medio de eliminación de fantasmas.
3) Ajustes de la imagen HDR: Básicos, aumentando contraste y claridad.
Photoshop:
4) Revelado por Zonas: agua, cielo, suelo, botes y edificios (migueldiaz-fotografia.es/revelado-por-zonas-control-total/)
5) Aplicación de Enfoque
6) Dodge & Burn usando una capa superpuesta de 50% de Gris y pincel Blanco o Negro al 20%.
7) Recorte final

STORY OF THIS PHOTOGRAPHY
If there is a place where the eye (and the camera) can enjoy with colors, that place, without no doubts, is Burano. A small island near Venice (aprox 1 Km). To get lost thru its streets/canals is simply marvellous. In this case, to capture the sunset I was in a small bridge located in a strategic place, closeby a nice place to have a capuccino meanwhile I waited for the arrival of perfect light.
PHOTO EDITION
HDR image taken from 3 shots (-2EV,0EV,+2EV), handheld and developed on Lightroom and Photoshop.
Lightroom:
1) Preparation of the original RAW for HDR process, slight adjustment of lights, shadows, blacks and whites, Lens correction(chromatic aberration, lens profile), spot removal and slight noise adjustment.
2) Sync the 3 shots and combine them on LR for HDR adjusting ghosting removal to medium.
3) Basic adjustment of HDR image: Basics, incresing contrast and clarity.
Photoshop:

Después de casi dos años de trabajo con el texto y la maquetación y muchos más haciendo las fotos que lo ilustran, ya ha salido de la imprenta mi nuevo libro de técnica fotográfica.
Se titula "El Arte de Fotografiar el Paisaje" y abarca todos los temas que considero necesarios para conseguir resultados de calidad en esta especialidad que, en algún momento, todos practicamos.
El libro comienza con temas generales de fotografía, también hablo del material y de su importancia. La luz y la planificación de la toma ocupan un capítulo, al igual que la composición, el núcleo fundamental del paisaje. He dedicado una sección a hablar de temas específicos como puestas de sol, cascadas, hora azul, estrellas, Vía Láctea... El libro acaba, al igual que nuestras tomas, con un método eficaz de revelado y edición enfocado a obtener el máximo partido de nuestras imágenes.
Llegará a las librerías el próximo miércoles (20-10-21) pero si prefieres un ejemplar dedicado con un pequeño regalito que no te darán en otra parte, puedes reservarlo en mi web (frannieto.es/libros).
También he creado más de ocho horas de videotutoriales para los que no les gusta mucho leer y que complementan el texto, ya que hay muchas cosas que es mejor mostrar en vídeo.

En Annecy, justo en la salida del canal de Vassé al lago de Annecy se encuentra este puente, llamado el puente de los Amores (Pont des Amours), ya que al parecer según algunas historias, los enamorados que se besan en él estarán unidos para siempre. Hay otras historias sobre el puente y su nombre, pero sinceramente esta es la más bonita que he encontrado.
Por la mañana, desde el lado derecho del canal es posible obtener una bonita foto del amanecer con el sol saliendo por encima de las montañas.
REVELADO
Imagen HDR, revelada con Lightroom y Photoshop.
Lightroom:
1) Preparación de las 3 tomas (-2EV, 0EV, +2EV) para HDR, ajustando ligeramente luces, sombras, blancos y negros, además de Corrección de la lente (aberraciones cromáticas, perfil de lente), eliminación de posibles manchas y ligero ajuste de ruido.

STORY OF THIS PHOTOGRAPHY
This bridge is loaceted just at the entrance of Vasse Canal from the Annecy lake, it's called Love Bridge (Pont des Amours), since some stories about it say those lovers who kiss on it, they will be together for ever. There are other stories about the bridge and its name, bur honestly this is the more beautiful I've found.
Early in the morning, it's possible to take a good shot from the right side of the canal with the sun rising from behind the mountains.
PHOTO EDITION

Was soll ich sagen? Meine Geranien-Stecklinge gehen ab wie Rakete ;-)
Doble exposición tomada en los campos de Lavanda cercanos a Brihuega en Guadalajara.
En ambas tomas se utilizó la Nikon D750 junto al Nikkor 14-24 f:2.8G
La toma del cielo está tomada a ISO 1600 y f2:8, y compuesta por 270 fotografías de 18"
La del suelo está tomada a f:8 iso 100. y 1/60 de exposición.
Esta última toma se realizó justo después del atardecer, en plena hora azul.
En Photoshop se realizó el apilado del startrail, y el posterior blending de ambas tomas utilizando máscaras de luminosidad tal y como explico en este VIDEOTUTORIAL.

Acabo de subir el primero de los vídeotutoriales que dedicaré a la fotografía panorámica.
Empiezo hablando de la importancia de contar con una base de nivelación (y os recomiendo alguna asequible y ligera), de la forma de enfocar de exponer.
En el siguiente creo que hablaré de la forma de conseguir evitar los problemas de paralaje cuando hay objetos cercanos, pero se admiten sugerencias, como siempre....

Post processing video tutorials and TKPanel for Photoshop in German and English
I just released my first English speaking video tutorial covering all aspects of sharpening (presharpening and output sharpening), creating mood, exposure blending and creative processing techniques, focus stacking and preparation for print.
This shot was taken earlier this year in New Zealand at the world famous Church of the Good Shepherd. The most difficult aspect of capturing a stunning shot here is to get no one in the photo. Spending hours at this location, I quickly found out that the average (chinese) tour bus stops for 10 mins and then goes on. There is a window of about 2 min. between the buses, you have to be quick ;-). Long exposures like this one are also a great way to avoid people as long as they are moving, you won't see them in the final image.

Trying new formats and tones.
Two days ago, I went training parkour with a friend of mine. There was at least three months since the last time I trained on real ground (I was training on a gym). Now my muscles are completely painful. My legs are stiffness after the training... I can't move T_T
This shot was on my house. I've planned to record a videotutorial today, but at the last moment became neccesary to go to the bank, buy some food for my turtle (called potato) and some other things, so I have not enough time. Tomorrow I will try to record it.

Probando nuevos formatos y tonalidades.
Hace dos días, fuí a entrenar parkour con un buen amigo. Hacía cerca de tres meses que no entrenaba en suelo real (había estado entrenando en gimnasio). Ahora mis músculos son puro dolor. Tengo agujetas en las piernas tras el entrenamiento y me cuesta moverme... T_T
Esta composición la hice en casa. Había planeado grabar un videotutorial hoy, pero en el último momento surgió la necesidad de ir al banco, comprar comida para mi tortuga (que se llama patata), y algunas otras cosas... Mañana intentaré grabarlo.

I do not show this work only to show this great model designed by Alexander, but also to bring out a message:
Hope is in all things. Hope might get crushed (happened to me during photographing-session numerous times x) ) but it will always stand up again. If hope is lost, try hard to acquire it again... stick to your friends, talk to them - they might comfort you or give you some important aid. But never give up! if you failed in a thing, there are reasons. points where you can try to improve. If you fall down, get up again. never stay on the floor. try to get a hand that pulls you up on the feet again, as there is hope. hope for you to return to your strength and giving hope back to others.
Thus i dedicate this model to all and everyone, who is having a hard time and to whom the world might seem dark. find your green angel, find your hope and get back on your feet! :)
I tried to implement those thoughts in the photography - the angel is green, the colour of hope. the background is dark, it might seem depressing, but the angel is still standing steady and strong, a sign of hope.
I hope you like the model and if anyone is feeling down, i could do a thing to motivate you again ;)
