The old version of downbelow was a mini-ITX motherboard in a handmade case (with a Bulgin tamper-resistant switch; it has a "UV Purple" power light in it, and it was the most expensive part of the case :-) but it's been running FreeBSD 4.x for about a decade now, so when our dsl connection started getting flakey my dns server started regularly freaking out and refusing to answer queries (named 8. Horrible horrible thing, with a horrible horrible bolted on IPC mechanism to chat with Vixie dhcpd) until I telnetted into downbelow, killed them, and restarted them. And since FreeBSD 4.x that meant that modern super portable(tm) [builds on BOTH redhat and debian!] software wouldn't even configure w/o massive nonportable hackery.

So, $8 for a NextThing C.H.I.P., $4 for a USB↔micro USB cable, and several days spent grovelling through documentation trying to puzzle out the ohmygodthiscrapisbyzantine New! Improved! Interfaces! that modern Linuxes come with, I finally got dnsmasq running on it and got my dhcp + dns into one smaller-footprint place.

Now to lets it burn in for a few weeks, and if it doesn't fail to fail to suck build a case for it (and to decide whether to put a little cellphone battery into the case so it can survive power outages.)

Montreal Soccer Clinic 2014 / Clinique de soccer de Montréal 2014 by KiaCanada

Dans le cadre du programme Dominer le changement, version 2014, l’Impact de Montréal et Kia Canada se sont associés pour offrir à 60 jeunes de 8 à 12 ans, une clinique de soccer d’une durée de 3 jours pour les aider à développer des aptitudes pour le soccer.

Cette clinique qui a eu lieu tout à côté du stade Saputo fut dirigée par les entraîneurs de l’école de soccer de l’Impact de Montréal. Dans le cadre de cette clinique, les jeunes ont eu également l’occasion d’augmenter leur estime de soi, leur esprit sportif, de même que leur sens du leadership. Lors de la dernière journée, les sourires étaient au rendez-vous lorsque chacun des jeunes a reçu des souliers de soccer à crampons Adidas et des billets pour assister à un match de l’Impact.

Under the 2014 Drive Change program, the Montreal Impact and Kia Canada have teamed up to offer a three day soccer clinic for 60 young people from 8 to 12 years, to help them develop skills for soccer.

This clinic, which took place right next to the Saputo stadium, was led by coaches of the Montreal Impact soccer school. As part of this clinic, the youth also had the opportunity to increase their self-esteem, sportsmanship, as well as leadership skills. On the last day, each youth received Adidas soccer cleats and tickets to attend a game for the Montreal Impact.
