A couple of weeks ago I was reading the Temple of the Seven Golden Camels blog and he talked about the drawing concept of "Silhouette Value". The concept that a character's action should be recognizable from just their silhouette. I decided to set up some photos to compare different poses for "silhouette value." Value was my element of art and contrast was my principle of design. I created value by using light from my bathroom to shine on my face while my bedroom light was off to create shadows. The variety of light and dark values creates contrast throughout the entire photo.
I'm kinda' with Donn....not that excited about still lifes. Looked all over my home and other places for something to draw. Drove me nuts. :-) Finally settled on these flowers.
yes, and they are good hairbands, now that you ask. I'm not sure if they help me 'dream, imagine, create', but they're a start.

I think the aspect the most visually striking of the photograph is the "ombre" effect (light in the center, getting darker at the edges)
If I were to shoot this photograph again, I would take it right after it rained to capture the water droplets as well.
Traditionally in Africa Beads were a visual language of symbolism, colors and graphic designs, reminding us of our systems of thought and philosophy. Beads were used to sending messages to Nyama, fighting off Nyama that may have been trying to do harm and to communicate with the member of the secret society and community.
Beads concealed and revealed information beads have been used in Africa for thousand of years. Beads tell the story of many live, communicating value and express rank, etc. their durability, portability and universal appeal have made beads a recognized currency, having passed through different hands, beads reveal Ourstory.
We recognize one another by our beads and adornment, different cultures, families, lineage, occupations, age and marital status was revealed by our personal adornment and sometime understood only by the initiated. All beads are in the collection of MBAD/ABA African Bead Museum.
Values matter for sustainability and innovation! Prof. Henning Breuer discussed the concept of values-based innovation with Philip Baumann (Ecosia) and Roman Meier-Andrae (TÜV Nord Mobilität) at Berlin’s cosy Tangoloft. Their fishbowl discussion was the opening event for the 4th International Conference on New Business Models, which took place from 1st to 3rd July at ESCP Europe's Berlin Campus.
