A couple of weeks ago I was reading the Temple of the Seven Golden Camels blog and he talked about the drawing concept of "Silhouette Value". The concept that a character's action should be recognizable from just their silhouette. I decided to set up some photos to compare different poses for "silhouette value." Inspired by the values of identity, this photo-documentary series of Matthew Wells’ transformation shows how an alter-ego has the power to create and destroy.
Displaying the photographs in reverse order correlates to the idea of Matthew’s Persona, here you can see the outcome (MATTC***) which everyone is familiar with; but also have the rare chance to witness the metamorphosis from the beginning.
For many reasons, I like the above photos. Each speaks to me about different things I value. I like to think the soul resembles just such a montage of life events that color and depict the essence of our lives and character. Links noted below.

These sketches in watercolor are good examples of how to use value to create volume. Part of "LeConte Stewart Papers" in the Special Collections Department, J. Willard Marriott Library, University of Utah.
1) This image investigates value. It reflects on the element by using the waves in the photograph an the gradients of grey and black.
2) Subject matter of this photograph is water.
3) I think that the aspect of the image being in black and white adds a special touch to the image.
4) I would sharpen the image.

1)Value is shown with the different shades of grey and silver.
2)The subject is the water droplets. I looked into a drinking fountain and thought this looked interesting.
3)I think the lit water is the most visually striking.
4)I would try to get rid of the bright light in the middle bottom of the photo and focus it better.
