On the 26th of December I was waliking through the village we live in (5Km from Milan) with Francesca in her trolley when I came across a bus stop equipped with this (mostly unusable) interface: I suppose (since it WASN'T functioning) it's a digital timetable for buses.
The main problem is the on/off button: it uses an international icon, but could you imagine my grandma looking at those strange simbols? And I'd say elderly are the more frequet users of public transportation here. Strange world indeed

Eureka! This new EM Spectrum exhibit takes advantage of twin 4K UHD screens and all of the coding, user interface, graphic design, and content is entirely new.
For this exhibit, we developed custom software which allows visitors to view both terrestrial and celestial objects across different wavelengths. The exhibit runs on an Ideum 100” dual 4K UHD Pano multitouch table. All of the content was developed specifically for the application. Ideum conducted a multispectral photo shoot for terrestrial objects and helped collect the latest celestial images. We worked with Science World in Vancouver to find appropriate images for the exhibit and collaborated on the content and text descriptions.
The 8K EM spectrum imaging exhibit will debut in the Eureka! Gallery at Science World at Telus World of Science in Vancouver in late February 2015. You can learn more about the Pano 100” multitouch table or the EM Spectrum exhibiton the Ideum website.

A work-in-progress interface design exploration you can see the latest iteration of the application at kino-eye.com/dmi/swimming-icons/. Each icon steers itself based on rules including avoidance, alignment, and coherence. They originate at the center and "swim" towards the edges. You can tag images (left click) or delete them (right click) or they die on their own after they swim off screen. There is no way (yet) to review what you've tagged, that's next on the list, after that I'll work on some way of clustering images you like. Designed for very large screens, this tiny web preview does not do justice to the idea of a sea of images. The flickr query is based on tags, in a future version you'll be able to choose the tags, this preview uses "iMac,IPhone,iPad" as the tags to search for with sort order of "interestingness-desc." Mylights is a unique photo album/event app currently in development by MK-Ultra, the designers of the Story of You photo app. We worked with them last year to design the user interface for both the ipad and iphone versions of this successful app. They contacted us again for assistance with the user interface design of this new project, soon to be launched in the App store.
