Wonderful! This is what a Blackberry Pearl does when you put it in the

breast pocket of your summer shirt while waiting in a line. It sends

an image to a messenger contact repeatedly..REPEATEDLY.

Zoom in for the transcript..adult content..

Probably the 4th time. I regret getting the Pearl.

Dithering in front of hand washing devices is a common experience. Foot pedals, buttons and ir sensors all different and all set different expectations. At least this one has some guidance, but in English only.

Sinks and toilets are just as bad, the emphasis seems to be on avoidance of contact. If we all weren't so prissy then we'd have things that worked.

Eureka! This new EM Spectrum exhibit takes advantage of twin 4K UHD screens and all of the coding, user interface, graphic design, and content is entirely new.

For this exhibit, we developed custom software which allows visitors to view both terrestrial and celestial objects across different wavelengths. The exhibit runs on an Ideum 100” dual 4K UHD Pano multitouch table. All of the content was developed specifically for the application. Ideum conducted a multispectral photo shoot for terrestrial objects and helped collect the latest celestial images. We worked with Science World in Vancouver to find appropriate images for the exhibit and collaborated on the content and text descriptions.

The 8K EM spectrum imaging exhibit will debut in the Eureka! Gallery at Science World at Telus World of Science in Vancouver in late February 2015. You can learn more about the Pano 100” multitouch table or the EM Spectrum exhibiton the Ideum website.

A Good User Interface - Hints and Tips

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

A Good User Interface has high conversion rates and is easy to use. In other words, it's nice to both the business side as well as the people using it. Here is a running list of practical ideas to try out.

Ironically, a typing command user interface to do set-up stuff and manage the Flavonoid device itself. There were enough unknown variables in the design of the device and enough of my own obsession with preferences and configurations and such all, that I spent some time creating a configurable device. Alas, Nicolas and I are interested in digital devices that are essentially faceless. Just blank, "blind" devices, like Sascha's awesome "Blind Camera" project. They are intriguing because of the way they run counter to intuition and thereby raise questions and immediately make their expression curious and unknown, hopefully opening the possibility for accepting new kinds of interaction rituals besides just pressing little plastic squares and such sorts of interactions that we've come to expect.
