Grazie 1000

I'm trying to find a way to make my Flickr presence more useful and productive. For this reason I'm trying an experiment. I ask to who will comment this/these photo/s to be SINCERE as much as possible and to comment like this:
What I like: bla bla bla
What I dislike: Bla bla bla
I can ensure that, in the limit of the time I will dedicate to flickr, I'll comment in the same way your photos.
Obviously you're free to comment in any other ways and do not intend my initiative as to be "superior". I'm convinced that to know what other think about our photos hel us to photographically grow</strong
Thanx a lot
Sometimes I find items in Second Life that really actually DO help me. That Commoner Chatterbox is one of them. Definitely going back to get more.

Gloucester Docks, in the city of Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England, United Kingdom, on Wednesday 31st October 2012.
A brief information about the building in the photo is in Chapter 1.
If you want to know more in-depth history about the area, feel free to skip to Chapter 2.
Chapter 1: About the photograph
I am a graphic designer as well as a photographer. I have been doing some graphic design projects, like a book cover design, a fictional movie posters, packaging designs, and in this case, an album art cover for a fictional CD.
The subject of the non-existence and made-up album is about a female singer-songwriter, who used to live in an old industrial town during her childhood days, and decided to leave her hometown, to seek stardom in the world of music.
The name of the album is The Old Dying Town. It is supposed to imply that the coal mines have dried up, the factories closed down, the town lost its cinema and nightlife, and too many people leaving. The town could easily become a ghost town.
So for the design theme of the album art, I needed black and white photos of old buildings, coal mines, abandoned factories, and anything like that. Thankfully I was aware of the old warehouses in Gloucester that had been left run down.
So I drove there, parked my car, and walked around, looking for some of the few old buildings that would be useful as background for the album art design.
The camera was set to black and white mode, and I took the photographs. I did not think to take the photos in colour, then covert into black and white while using photo-editing software. It’s a habit from the old days of using film cameras, where I would load either colour or black and white roll of film.
That was around the year of 2012, and thankfully few years before those old warehouses by the docks, were redeveloped into modern apartments.
In this photo: The viewpoint of this photo was taken from the High Orchard Lift Bridge on St Ann Way, looking in the rough direction of northeast.
Originally in the past, this was part of the Llanthony Provender Mill. It was built in 1862 for Foster Brothers Oil and Cake Mill, which processed vegetable seeds into oil. The cake is a product made from seeds after the oil had been extracted, and used as animal feed.
In early 1950s, the company moved to Avonmouth, and the mill closed, then sold to West Midlands Farmers as a distribution depot, until mid-1990s, then it fell into a state of disrepair and dereliction until the 2010s when it would be bought for redevelopment.
On the left side of the photo, the tall building had been damaged in an arson attack c2015, and was later redeveloped into 47 luxury apartments, and restaurants on the ground floor.
The smaller side building, seen on the right side of the photo, had been turned into a Beefeater steakhouse restaurant.
Chapter 2: The history of the Gloucester Docks.
In medieval times, this area was an orchard belonging to the nearby Llanthony Secunda Priory, a house for the canons.
Historically, materials and goods were mostly transported by boats up the River Severn to Gloucester. By around 1580, Queen Elizabeth I granted Gloucester the status of a customs port.
In the early 1800s, a canal was built, and during the Victorian times, warehouses and industrial buildings were built on the site, which benefited from the newly opened Gloucester and Sharpness Canal.
There were various kinds of businesses on the site. Companies that imported timber and prepared them for the building industry, some iron works factories, and even a flour-milling buildings were also presented at the site.
Over time during the 20th century, some companies closed because of the difficulties in trying to compete against rival businesses, some buildings had caught fire, and many other factors. By the late 20th century, many of the buildings were left empty.
During the 2010s, most of High Orchard buildings were redeveloped as Gloucester Quays outlet shopping centre, and many of the other buildings were redeveloped as luxury flats (apartments).
You are welcome to comment on my photographs, but please only comment about the subject in the photos. Do NOT comment about the groups with canned comments. The comment box is for about the photos, it is NOT an advertising billboard for the groups.

Meanwhile the EU Units reached the little settlement in the outer skirts of Abu Dhabi. Several SSA troops were located there, even the high ranked generals should be there. But, they wer not. Neither the lost group of hostages they were still looking for. Not a single trace was visible, where they might be. Just a few SSA Troops, that was everything. Furthermore it was quite suspicious. Some of them gave up, some of them got shot by the immense strike force of the EU Units. But the SSA hostages might be useful. So it seems that the orperation is not done yet...

Walking in the woods is always great! Unload the silence, especially from industrial cities. I am always calmed by the sounds of nature, the smell of trees, much cleaner air...
It's always nice to see a summer honey agaric. Since childhood, thanks to my father, mushrooms have been valued by me for their good taste and useful properties. For me personally, wild mushrooms are much tastier than store-bought ones. It is valued for its good taste and useful properties.

"Flax is grown for its seeds, which can be ground into a meal or turned into linseed oil, a product used as a nutritional supplement and as an ingredient in many wood-finishing products. Flax is also grown as an ornamental plant in gardens. Moreover, flax fibers are used to make linen. The specific epithet, usitatissimum, means "most useful".
Flax fibers taken from the stem of the plant are two to three times as strong as cotton fibers. Additionally, flax fibers are naturally smooth and straight. Europe and North America both depended on flax for plant-based cloth until the 19th century, when cotton overtook flax as the most common plant for making rag-based paper. Flax is grown on the Canadian prairies for linseed oil, which is used as a drying oil in paints and varnishes and in products such as linoleum and printing inks.
Linseed meal, the by-product of producing linseed oil from flax seeds, is used as livestock fodder." (Wikipedia)
Most useful plant indeed!!!

This was only my second proper shoot. Again I was totally spoilt. Deily is from Estonia, she's a great model with a wicked sense of humor and the most amazing turquoise/blue eyes I've seen in real life.
It was only towards the end of this shoot that I was happy with some of the shots. This is a pic from that end set. At the beginning of all this when I decided to challenge myself by taking portraits I had it in my head that I didn't want to waste the models time and often shot poses that just weren't what I was trying to do but I thought it would be useful for the model. Ultimately those pics ended up being just a bit shit because they were compromised. I wasn't interested in commercial, happy, sunny beach life pics. It took me at least 6 or 7 shoots before I had to say to myself just do what you want to do otherwise its total waste of time.
O! Ocean, seat of gems so precious
And riches not yet measured.
What treasures you keep, for whom?
From where have you acquired so much
You are a vast expanse like the sky,
Limitless, impregnable and fierce
But yet, though boiling aqua today
Where you not vapour yesterday
And ice benumbing tomorrow be ?
You are the source and means of life,
Benign mother of the protoplasm.
Rich in food rare and costly, nay
Everything big, small useful or not
Is in your stock, in that womb,
Unbounded, held under your sway
In contradiction to the laws of nature.
Why ? you are nature itself.
Is there one to enforce law on you ?
Wonderful are your ways O! Ocean.
At times calm and composed you remain,
At times you ebb and sweep like a train;
Now you roar like a lion,
Now you lisp like a lamb too nice;
Playing still the music of the waves.
Though in that inner heart is eternal peace
To me you are the dark blue ocean
To your frost white, but no colour you own.
An embodiment you are
Of bounteousness and generosity.
As the Lord supreme and mighty,
It is the cool refreshing air, I know
Your life breath itself, you give,
That sustains life in the universe,
What to speak of your salinity,
That enlivens the entire living world
And savours the dishes of the poor and rich alike

Together forever
I am a textile little girl dyed a distinguished primary color that represents energy, fun, joy, intelligence, emotion, beauty, warmth, ... friendly united to a metallic elongated stick called a needle through her only eye and with the help of her pointy foot we go through and join tissues.
One story holds that in the Middle Ages two young men from rival families were always fighting, one with a sword in hand, the other with a club with spikes in a fight that had no end. Aslid the sorcerer of harmony and love, tired of their continuous fights and disputes transformed them into a needle and thread so that they would be eternally united and punished to elaborate useful things.

We were taking a few days summer rest at Port Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia, but the unusual cold southerly winds for this time of year hit soon after we arrived. The ocean and waves were wild and sea spray was everywhere. Even on the camera! This unusual wild weather turned the beautiful white sea foam into a yellow slush both on the waves and on the seashore.
It was even difficult to stand up, and going near the edge was a no no with this strong wind. I have never been in a wind so strong.
I captured this image just below the Lighthouse at Port Macquarie called the Tacking Point Lighthouse. A popular place for both Australian and overseas visitors.

This world is strange and beautiful and it's a gift that everybody needs to start taking responsibility for. Many national parks are going to be quite different in just a few decades so my advice to you is get out there and see it, but please do so in a responsible way. :)
I am bringing up the point, that at this amazing location there is absolutely no government infrastructure other than some restrooms, and there are no restrictions guiding a adventurer where to camp or about fire pits "nothing". As cool as that sounds, I'm worried about this place and it's future prospects.
Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my photos and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great weekend everyone :)

Ruined portal are not that useful in the game but adds a lot of life and it's cool when one is found because of the chest. In addition to adding a nice touch in the landscape, when you put your hands on a Notch Apple, it's Always fantastic !

A few indications on what represent what:
- The blocks in Bright Light Orange represent the Magma Blocks
- The grill/tile stacked on top represent Coal Blocks
- The block in yellow represent a gold block that fell on the ground
- The block in orange represent the lava
If I'm correct, it's all block accurate, almost every block is a cube. It's not the case for the slabs that should be 1/4 of plate higher and the walls arround the portal.
Here's my second entry for Marchitecture 2025 Contest for the Standalone category in physical.

All found on the back of a vintage composition notebook entitled "50th State". The cover features a map of Hawai'i and room for the student's name and grade, but no other publishing information. I'd say this dates to the early 1960s and was published in Hawai'i.

The Toco Toucan eats fruit using its bill to pluck them from trees, but also insects, frogs, small reptiles, small birds and their eggs and nestlings. The long bill is useful for reaching things that otherwise would be out-of-reach. It is typically seen in pairs or small groups. In flight it alternates between a burst of rapid flaps with the relatively short, rounded wings, and gliding. [Shamelessly copied from Wikipedia]
Probably my favourite South American bird.
