Typical village landscape in Hanoi. Presently threathened by large urban developments at the periphery of the city. The city has been built on large water areas that are progressively reduced to residual water ponds as the one that appears on this picture.

The most striking landmark of the prestigious urban renovation project by the city of Ghent, the Krook houses the public library, labs and offices of the university, and aims to be a meeting and connecting place for people. It's part of that dream factory which pretends to be ready for the 21st century, yet at 7 pm the whole thing closes down and is as dead as all the rest. And on Sundays you don't connect with other people either.

It’s difficult to imagine but this beautiful forest will become apartment buildings in the near future. The city planners in Abbotsford BC say this will likely happen in this next year, 2022. For the past 14 years we have been using this trail has become a part of our lives.

From 1925 to 1963 Puget Sound Pulp and Timber Co. operated on the waterfront in Bellingham and then was sold to GP, Georgia Pacific which for the most part made a most vital and precious commodity, toilet paper. :) It was THE job to have in that wonderful town until 4 days before Christmas, 1997 when the last rolls of Quilted Northern, Angel Soft, and MD were packaged and shipped.

Inside one of the many brick buildings stood these beauties and at great expense the city was able to spare them and display them in what is now a growing park and community center and in doing so giving a nod to where the city came from with an eye to where it is going. I'm hoping Howard Ryder stops by and gives us more info as he was one of the 1,000 plus that lost their jobs that day.

I am assuming that that is an operational paper mill providing me with that wonderful steamy background and lighting, it's really something to see and along with the 13 breweries makes the trek worth it. :-)

Tbilisi is the capital and largest city of Georgia, situated in the eastern part of the country on the banks of the Kura River. With a rich history spanning over 1,500 years, Tbilisi has been shaped by numerous cultures and civilizations over the centuries. The old part of Tbilisi, known for its charming architecture and unique atmosphere, is one of the most captivating areas of the city. In contrast, the Peace Bridge is a strikingly modern architectural marvel and one of Tbilisi’s most recognizable landmarks. Completed in 2010, the bridge was designed by Italian architect Michele de Lucchi, with lighting by French designer Philippe Martinaud. It spans the Kura River, connecting the old town with the newer districts, and serves as an important pedestrian route and a symbol of the city. The bridge’s design is particularly remarkable, featuring a glass canopy that curves gracefully over the walkway. Often compared to a giant glass wave or a sea creature, the canopy is made of steel and glass and is illuminated at night by thousands of LED lights. These lights create a breathtaking visual display and are programmed to transmit messages in Morse code, conveying universal symbols of life and peace. The Bridge of Peace is not only a functional structure but also a symbolic monument. It embodies the connection between the old and modern parts of Tbilisi and serves as a metaphor for the city’s progress toward peace and unity. The bridge is a popular spot for both locals and tourists, offering stunning views of the city, including the nearby Narikala Fortress and the Presidential Palace.

The Peace Bridge in Tbilisi, Georgia, is located in the heart of the city, spanning the Kura River. Its futuristic design stands in sharp contrast to the surrounding historic architecture, making it a powerful symbol of Tbilisi’s dynamic blend of tradition and modernity.

Queen Street East at Victoria Street in downtown Toronto is completely closed to vehicle traffic due to Ontario Line construction. A large barricade blocks the streetcar tracks, with traffic lights overhead and glass towers reflecting the scene. Pedestrians cross the intersection while transit is detoured around the area. The closure will remain in place for several years as work continues on the new Queen Station connection to the Ontario Line subway.
