create an illusion of 'struggle' that will neither democratise education nor open up any job opportunities. do we look at the current policy changes in UPSC and exclusion of languages like Arabic and Persian?.

How Indeed the current changes that are being introduced reassr9rt the communal and Hindu majoratarian character of the l_ndian state. While the state has no problem in retaining English, it is excluding Arabic and Persian which are spok~n and written for centuries in the country. This p~rticular step only reaffirms the deep seated ties of the Indian state w1try the imperialist market and its concerted effort to marginalize the languages used mainly by the Muslim community. The microscopic minority amongst the muslims that did make it (around 2.5-3%) hardly came from the options that ~r~ bei~g excluded now. In recent years, UPSC has introduced a set ofsystematic changes in its subjectlist, syllabus andexamination formatwhich tend to put several aspirants in a serious disadvantage. In particular, exclusion ofseveral 'foreign' languages like Russian, Gennan, Spanish, Gennan, French, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Persian, which are taughtin our universities (and Madarsas) from UPSC subject list and the CSAT format for prelims exam are tremendously discriminatory and have militated against ties and non-technical backgrounds. Real Agenda Behind these Insidious Policy Moves: Over the past few years, we have been seeing systematic attempts to commercialise education, curtail employment and restrict critical avenues of employment to an already privileged section.
