Real Agenda Behind these Insidious Policy Moves: .
Over the years. we have seen systematiC attempts through corporate-dictated nee-liberal policies to commercialize education, curtail employment and restrict cntical avenues of employment to a privileged section. The forced 1mposit1on of FYUP in DU is the most brazen instance of this agenda to 'restructure' the character and content of higher education and dismantle provisions of equitable quality educat1on in the largest Central un1versity of the country. Last year, the !BPS arbitranly reduced the age limit and increased the minimum percentage required for applying in Bank PO. It took a protracted struggle before these retrograde moves were rolled back. The discriminatory policy moves of UPSC has to be seen in this context. where the evident objective of the government is to ~restructure' the very composition ofbureaucracy in a manner so that it is eroded of any semblance of criticality, social sensitivity and is entirely transformed into tame technocratic facilitator of corporate lobby. .

Update on JNUSU's intervention : In a series of agitations from Protest Demonstration at UPSC on 10 Oct, Deputation to DePT on 7 Nov and a March to Parliament on 5 Dec, in which students from DU, JMI, AMU, Allahabad University, Patna University participated in large numbers -JNUSU has consistently been demanding the revocation of these exclusionary policies. .

JNUSU delegations have also met the Minister of DoPTNarayanswamy and Minister of Minority Affairs, K. Rahman Khan regarding this issue. But instead of heeding to the demands of the student and youth of th1s country, DePT Minister .
V. Narayanswamy stated in the recently concluded Parliament session that the recent changes in UPSC cannot be reversed. JNUSU have also met various MPs like D P Tripathi, Badruddin Ajmal. Dlgvijay Singh, Meira Kumar. Shafiqurrahman Barq, Ali Anwar, Tapan Sen, Mohammad lsrarul Haque, Ram Vilas Paswan and Sharad Yadav and sought their active intervention in the matter. Several MPs have already raised the issue in the Parliament and with the Ministry. Campaign amongst the MPs is still continuing. JNUSU is also preparing for a National March very soon. It is in this context of government's unwillingness to respond to our genuine and urgent demands, JNUSU for a wider opinion building is orgainsing a Convention 0~ 22"d January (Wednesday) from 3 PM onwards at Gandhi Peace ~oundation. We appeal to the student community to participate 1n Tomorrow's convention in large numbers. .

5 Tips to Crack UPSC Interview
1. Keep the newspaper handy- Reading the newspaper religiously will help you become more aware of the important things happening around the world. You will learn to form your own opinions and connect the dots between seemingly unrelated things. You’ll also have a lot more to talk about at the interview.
2. Take up a hobby- As opposed to the common idea having a hobby is not an utter waste of time and money. Having a hobby will not only help you sharpen a skill but also help you be a more interesting person. Also, a candidate who is not boring is more likely to get hired.
3. Read books- Reading has innumerable benefits. However, to name a few it helps you develop your verbal abilities, knowledge, imagination and focus. Reading also improves your concentration and memory.
4. Mental Alertness- There are a lot of questions in the interview to check a candidate’s mental alertness as it is a prerequisite for the civil services. One simple way of achieving mental alertness is by building associative relationships between things. For example, if you are reading a news story, try to identify all the important aspects related to it and its connection with the other events that are happening around us. Through questions that pose a query to your mental alertness, the interviewer is not trying to test your knowledge, but wants to know how smartly you can answer a simple question.
5. Take mocks- It is desirable that you go through some sessions of mock interviews before stepping into the real interview. A mock interview is the duplication or simulation of an actual interview. Therefore, it is conducted in a same way as actual interview is conducted. The basic objective of a mock interview is to give an interviewee feeling of an actual interview. This feeling emerges because the mock interview is conducted on similar conditions or creating the similar environment to that of the UPSC.
