The Upper Tahquamenon Falls is the second largest waterfall east of the Mississippi River. Up to 50,000 gallons of water per second are propelled 50 feet down into the river below, sustaining a thunderous roar in the heart of an otherwise peaceful Michigan state park.

In winter, the power of the falls is halted, frozen and preserved in the breathtaking beauty of crystalized water columns. A half mile paved pathway guides visitors directly from the parking lot to the Upper Falls through a forest of American Beech, Sugar Maple, Eastern Hemlock, and Yellow Birch. Viewing areas perfect for taking photos of this Michigan waterfall are found at the top, middle, and base of the falls and are connected by staircases.

Day 39 - September 11, 2009 - Glacier National Park, Montana

It is about 5.5 miles one-way to reach Upper Grinnell Lake from the Many Glacier Hotel on Swiftcurrent Lake. It is one of the best hikes in Glacier NP! I hiked to Iceberg Lake two days before this hike. It was also a nice hike, but Iceberg Lake had no icebergs! Therefore, I was really excited (and pleasantly surprised) to see icebergs in Upper Grinnell Lake.

For this shot, I decided to include the people on the rock for a sense of scale (they look so tiny).

Also known as West Secaucus Movable Bridge, Upper Hack Lift Bridge was built by the Delaware Lackawanna & Western Railroad back in March of 1959. It is a single-track lift bridge that carries NJ Transit's Main Line over the Hackensack River between Lyndhurst and Secaucus, NJ. The bridge is the newest movable bridge on NJ Transit and is the only single-track lift bridge in the state of New Jersey. It is seen here carrying Main Line train 1116 with NJT 4204 east out.

A fine church in a lovely village, that seems to draw me back several times a year. Lots of late medieval survivals, including some of the best bench ends in this part of the county and a memorably carved rood screen that retains its rood loft floor, the only one in Norfolk.

Upper Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon located in Navajo land near Page Arizona. Antelope Canyon was formed by erosion of Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to other sub-aerial processes. [via wiki].

Yosemite Upper Falls as seen from Valley during early winter of 2014

First Jump in 10 months, 4 stone (56 pounds) lighter, no pressure on my knees and ankles and nailed it first time, god it's good to be back, roll on Malaysian jumping.

Over the past couple of weeks this shot of upper creek falls has really grown on me. My fiancee and I arrived at the falls a little later than I had planned after spending a little too much time at Rough Ridge for sunrise. Luckily we got there in time so that the falls was still in the shade but the sun coming over the ridge into the valley was starting to create some difficulties shooting. I did my best to use the lighting to my advantage in this shot and capture the light hitting the leaves while still getting a long exposure with the falls.

Originally I wasn't going to post this because the slight be of sun flare at the top of the falls bothered me....but regardless I still really like the shot and wanted to share it. This was my first visit to the falls but certainly won't be my last....it is really a beautiful fall with so many compositional possibilities...you just have to get there early in the morning!

This picture features the upper portion of Upper Creek Falls in North Carolina's Pisgah National Forest. It was taken in May, 2011. I'd headed out to western NC intending to spend a few days shooting up on Hawksbill Mountain, but I was a little late for the Carolina rhododendron bloom. That opened up a little time to explore some other locales in the area, including this one.

This shot has been hiding on my hard drive for a while now, but I've had essentially no time to shoot over the past few months. I'm left to explore the archives for now.

Taken on a recent drive through the Dales with Sal. It's looking towards Hubberholme with Langstrothdale beyond.

It's very gratifying to be able to introduce someone to a waterfall they were not familiar with. This is the first waterfall that Christy (savage gardener) and I visited.

Upper Marr Branch Falls

New River Gorge, WV

The trek to Marr Branch is a short but very steep decent down, you can see the falls from the road but getting down to the falls is by far no easy task. Of all the falls that I have been to this one really tested me, once I got down which was a little scary I knew getting out was going to be a real challenge, and oh boy was I right, it took everything thing I had to climb my way out over giant boulders to reach the top.

From what I have been told from my good friend Randall Sanger there has not been very many photos of this fall from the bottom and now I know why.

Single-track lift bridge over Hackensack River was built by the Lackawanna Railroad in 1959 for Boonton Line service and replaced a 1901 swing bridge. In 1963 Erie Main Line service was rerouted via Upper Hack. Currently used by NJ Transit Main Line service between Suffern and Hoboken via Paterson.

More of Upper Antelope Canyon (near Page, AZ).

some shots of Upper Kananaskis lake on a nice July day hike, hard to beat the sound of the wind in the trees and a babbling brook on a hot day.

One more off from laundry list of things to photograph. Finally i could photograph wonderful rock formations at Upper Antelope Canyon during my week long tour. Before heading out to Page i did some research on whole Antelope thing and found that one need to take a photography tour, to take better photographs.

Of course it comes at a price of $85 but it is worth paying to visit this photographer's paradise.

Still it is bit challenging photographing beating the crowds, but much better than a normal tour. You are allowed to setup a tripod as a part of photography tour, which results in better quality photographs.

I think one will spend more time sorting the best photographs than actual photography itself. That says how amazing this place is.
