More from Whiskeytown Falls. This is a shot of an upper section that is quite a dicey scramble to get to. You have to use a tree branch to scale up a very steep section, or walk very close to the main drop on a steep mossy section (we chose to use the tree). I think this might be the most beautiful section of the falls, as it plunges into a very deep emerald pool that just glows. My friend actually climbed up further above this section and found 2 more small drops, before the creek flattened out. Hope you enjoy, let me know what you think!!!
I find these the trickiest of conditions. Bright sunshine, strong colours, deep blue, cloudless sky.
It's a landscape that I always seem to have visited in exactly the same kind of conditions.
It's such a great place to be on such a day though.

This was the highest ranking Explore I have ever received, and I have been completely overrun with views, faves and comments. They are all very much appreciated but I am just unable to respond to all of them!
It was an overcast and rainy day that had me dodging rain most of the day. The greens were so vivid and lush that I actually pulled the saturation down as they looked fake!
Letchworth State Park, Castile, New York. Renowned as the "Grand Canyon of the East," is one of the most scenically magnificent areas in the eastern U.S. The Genesee River roars through the gorge over three major waterfalls between cliffs--as high as 600 feet in some places--surrounded by lush forests. Hikers can choose among 66 miles of hiking trails. Trails are also available for horseback riding, biking, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. Letchworth offers nature, history and performing arts programs, guided walks, tours, a summer lecture series, whitewater rafting, kayaking, a pool for swimming and hot air ballooning.

Flickr is driving me crazy with all the changes!!
I just got back from a week long photo trip to the Southwest. I was traveling with long-time friend Charles Chapman. Our trip was centered, for the most part, around Page, Arizona.
The places and sights we saw were Horseshoe Bend, Hanging Gardens, Owl Canyon, Rattlesnake Canyon, Upper Antelope Canyon, Lower Antelope Canyon, the Navajo National Memorial, Canyon De Chelly and the Petrified Forest National Park(including the Painted Desert).
I'll be posting images from these locations as I get them processed. I hope you enjoy them half as much as I did taking them.
Late Fall and with more than a week of rain, the falls were thundering and vibrating the ground because of he large flow over the falls. The dark brown color is from tannin leacked from the forest soils and leaf matter. Paradise, Michigan, USA
Upper Yosemite Falls viewed from Glacier Point. To the left of the falls, you can see the trail switch backing to the top of the falls.

A long overdue visit to this honeypot location. Fortunate enough to have a little mist blow in and out.
After spending its entire working life shuttling between Elmers End and Purley on the 289, ENX18 is promoted to Superloop route SL5 which is seen in Shirley heading to Bromley North Station.

I've never been sure on how to shoot this waterfall but on this occasion I was trying to include some of 2010's elusive Fall color. Silvercreek State Park, Oregon

Stargazing myself to sleep; the gentle lake sounds during the night; not needing a tent; all were wonderful. Waking up within this, may have been even better.
Considering all the stuff I unnecessarily carried up, it was sweeter yet.
